Tillis gets Served with Citizens Petition

RALEIGH — Hundreds of North Carolina citizens signed an online petition and presented it to State House Speaker Thom Tillis on Wednesday demanding he rescind pay raises for his staff.

Tillis said the raises are justified. However in a statement, the organizer of the petition Doug Jackson, called it hypocritical and said Tillis misplaced his priorities.

Tillis claimed the raises boiled down to fairness.

"It would be unfair because my staff already makes less than the governor and now they would make far less. What everyone needs to understand is my staff made 25 percent less than the governor for three months until they proved that they could do a good job," said Tillis.

Tillis says he is willing to cut the new salaries by 10 percent if needed.

How about this, you take back the raises and give it two or three teachers that are losing their jobs this season..

Yet teachers and state employees have gone years with a raise, yet you give these jerks a raise after six months… I wonder what other services they were doing for you, that isn’t state approve.

Tillis claimed his staff would be 17% below that of last speaker of the house,  Hackney, however,

The News and Observer did the math and promptly reported, Tillis’ payroll is ‘10% higher’ – not 17% lower – than Hackney’s.

Tillis you are nothing but a liar
