Only media outlets who have RSVPed will have press credentials and a media kit waiting for them. Media check-in will open at 8:30 am.
One press table will be located at the start of the Moral March at the corner of Wilmington St and South St. near Shaw University in Raleigh. The second press table will be located near the Moral March's ending point and the People's Assembly stage at the corner of Fayetteville St and Morgan St. See the Moral March route map as a visual aid.
There will be a raised platform near the main stage that will be reserved for the media throughout the event. Reporters and camera people must be wearing the press credentials issued by the Moral March organizers in order to gain access to the reserved media area near the People's Assembly stage. The camera and press platform will be clearly marked and located in front of and to one side of the main stage on Fayetteville St between Hargett St. and Morgan St.
Throughout the day, media outlets, including cable news and other television stations will have
access to a nearby press suite where they can set up cameras and use the WIFI. At the end of the march, program speakers will move to the press suite for interviews with media outlets. The suite location will be released in the media kit, and the volunteers at the press check-in tables can provide directions to members of the media on the morning of the event. (Again, this room is for credentialed media only.)*
During the march and the assembly, no members of the media will be allowed at any time into the holding space behind the main stage for security reasons. Instead, a number of program speakers and coalition leaders will be available for interviews after the Moral March concludes in the press suite. A full list of spokespeople will be included in the media kit.
A PDF version of the media kit will be released on Friday night (Feb. 7) to media outlets who have sent in an RSVP. A hard copy will be available the next morning at press check-in. In the media kit, we will include maps with media hot spots marked, including the media platform, the press suite, and the afternoon press conference. We will also include a list of program speakers available for interviews after the program, contact information for the NC NAACP communications staff, and a more detailed version of the day's schedule.
Please send any further questions to forwardtogether@naacpnc.org.
*Depending on the number of media personnel, not all media outlets with credentials may be given access to the press suite.
