Kay Hagan refuses to say no to the President. Today, despite several of her Democratic colleagues abandoning Obama, Kay Hagan voted to confirm one of his nominees to the Department of Justice who was a vocal advocate for a convicted cop killer. This is reprehensible and a clear sign that North Carolina needs a new Senator.
Yes, we might need a new Senator, yes Kay has made some huge mistakes, however at least she doesn’t that we should do away with a minimum wage for workers, and she not in the pockets of ALEC or POPE..
Thom voted to restrict voting rights for all NC citizens. restrict a women rights to Abortions. He voted yes to Repeal the Racial justice Act. Voted to Prohibit Medicaid Expansion.
Since 2011-2014 going by Ballopedia Tillis hasn’t been appointed to any standing committee.

It was that pressure that brought him to Charlotte last month for a fundraiser at Myers Park Country Club. While he was on the road to Charlotte, the House he presides over was vigorously debating an abortion-related bill.
Besides missing important House business, Tillis’ moonlighting has the look of the pay-to-play politics that Republicans decried among Democrats for so long. A superPAC for Tillis raised $70,000 from George A. Sywassink, R. Doyle Parrish and W.G. Champion Mitchell, newly released records show. Tillis’ House named all three to the UNC Board of Governors recently, including Sywassink after declaring there had been a vote-tallying error the first time around.
State law bars legislators from raising money from lobbyists during the legislative session, but the ban doesn’t apply to federal candidates like Tillis. So he can attend a fundraiser hosted by Royce Everette, a major consumer finance lender, days after the legislature approved a bill raising interest rates and fees for Everette’s industry.
He has shown he can’t give his undivided attention to the N.C. House and the U.S. Senate at the same time. He should give up his Speaker’s gavel, resign from his House seat and give his full energy to his Senate bid, unencumbered by such distractions as running the state. - Charlotte Observer, 7/18/13
So it's no wonder analysts would consider Tillis a weak candidate. But as vulnerable of a candidate Tillis might be, he will still be heavily finance by Pope, ALEC, the Koch Brothers and every other right-wing Super PAC. The GOP wants Hagan's seat and they'll spend big to lie and distort her image. But while Tillis is off focusing on a higher office, Hagan is looking out for homeless veterans:

The first bill sponsored by Foxx to have been signed into law since 2006, the Hero Act, signed by President Bush on Memorial Day, 2006, allows U.S. troops to increase their retirement savings by investing a portion of their combat pay into Individual Retirement Accounts.

In April 2009, Foxx expressed opposition to the Matthew Shepard Act, claiming that the murder of Matthew Shepard was not a hate crime. While debating the act at the House of Representatives, which was attended by Matthew Shepard's mother, she called the incident a "very unfortunate incident" but also "we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery. It wasn't because he was gay." She continued that "It's really a hoax that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing hate crimes bills.” However, that statement is disputed by the police reports, the ensuing police investigation and by the trial testimony of the accused themselves. She was criticized by several media outlets and some congressional colleagues for that statement. It was also noted that Matthew Shepard's mother was present at the time.
Yet the boys told the judge in court, that they chose him because he was gay. I can only guess she didn’t have her glasses on,where she reading that part in the newspapers..
Let’s hope this year one of these to fine people can unseat her bigoted ass right out of office..
“I have reviewed the congressional redistricting map proposed by the state House and Senate Republicans. My assessment is that the desire of the Republicans to gain partisan advantage has led them to violate both the letter and spirit of the Voting Rights Act (VRA) and court cases interpreting the VRA. The Republicans have gone out of their way to pack African-American voters into the 12th District and, in the process, have made race the compelling rationale for the proposed district. This is neither justified nor sanctioned by the VRA. It represents a disappointing effort by the Republicans to dilute and minimize the political influence of African-American voters in the Piedmont by packing all of them into the 12th district so none of them have influence in adjoining districts. It also represents a sinister Republican effort to use African Americans as pawns in their effort to gain partisan, political gains in Congress.
“The VRA was passed to level the political playing field for African Americans by neutralizing the impact of historic racial voting patterns that continue today. Overcompensating for racially polarized voting by packing more African-American voters into a district than reasonably necessary to offset racial voting patterns is just as violate of the VRA as not placing enough African-American voters with common interests in a district to offset racial voting patterns. Republicans placing too much emphasis on race, which seems apparent in the drawing of the 12th district as well as some other districts in their plan, will almost certainly result in protracted and costly litigation, uncertainty and cynicism. I regret that the Republicans have chosen a course of action that will have this result in an effort to gain partisan political advantage.”
