Elisabeth Motsinger, a Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school board member and Wilkes County Democratic Party Chairwoman Treva Johnson are hoping to unseat Foxx this year.
Let’s not forget that voted against helping the victims of Katrina, and against the Voting Rights Act of 2006. The first bill sponsored by Foxx to have been signed into law since 2006, the Hero Act, signed by President Bush on Memorial Day, 2006, allows U.S. troops to increase their retirement savings by investing a portion of their combat pay into Individual Retirement Accounts.
We all know how she feels about the LGBT community.. So really lower herself worth when she told member of Congress that Matt’ death was hoax in front of late Matt’s mother who was sitting in the gallery.
In April 2009, Foxx expressed opposition to the Matthew Shepard Act, claiming that the murder of Matthew Shepard was not a hate crime. While debating the act at the House of Representatives, which was attended by Matthew Shepard's mother, she called the incident a "very unfortunate incident" but also "we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery. It wasn't because he was gay." She continued that "It's really a hoax that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing hate crimes bills.” However, that statement is disputed by the police reports, the ensuing police investigation and by the trial testimony of the accused themselves. She was criticized by several media outlets and some congressional colleagues for that statement. It was also noted that Matthew Shepard's mother was present at the time.
Yet the boys told the judge in court, that they chose him because he was gay. I can only guess she didn’t have her glasses on,where she reading that part in the newspapers..
Let’s hope this year one of these to fine people can unseat her bigoted ass right out of office..
Republican Rep. Virginia Foxx, who represents North Carolina’s Fifth Congressional District, has never exactly been a friend to the LGBT community.
But her recent push for an amendment that would ban use of Department of Defense funds for same-gender couple benefits by U.S. military agencies sheds a harsh light on a more disturbing trend in the annals of discriminatory legislation: using redundant lawmaking to create political wedges.
You see, Foxx's amendment, which passed the House on Thursday, essentially just mandates enforcement of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in order to ban military benefits like housing, education, medical services, and transportation for same-gender couples. The amendment, therefore, assumes that military leaders simply needed to be reminded that, as federal entities, they are bound by the law; or rather, that a nation needed to understand clearly that folks who fight and die for their country don't yet deserve relationship recognition.
This same type of "superfluous-lawmaking-for-political-points" can be seen in Foxx's home state, as North Carolina's proposed constitutional amendment to ban marriage equality is slated to come up in a special September legislative session. Considering the fact that state statute already denies LGBT couples the right to marry in North Carolina, it would seem (and was unwittingly confirmed by proponents) that this sudden urgency to enshrine discrimination into our state's founding document is in actuality a mere attempt to drive conservative voters to the ballot in 2012.
It's up to us to let our legislators know that LGBT folks are not a wedge issue to be played when the electoral chips are down--we're North Carolinians, like them, plain and simple. Here's how we start:
If you're a community leader. Host a HOUSE PARTY FOR EQUALITY, to engage supporters, sign postcards, raise money and inform folks in your area about how the anti-LGBT amendment will impact people they know and love.
If you're a business leader. Sign our NORTH CAROLINA BUSINESS DECLARATION AGAINST THE ANTI-LGBT AMENDMENT, making your voice heard that a state that codifies discrimination is bad for business.
If you're a faith leader. Sign our RELIGIOUS DECLARATION AGAINST THE ANTI-LGBT AMENDMENT, and take this unique opportunity to turn your beliefs into action.
And if you're with us. Get UNITED AT THE UNION, our chance to come together in the coming weeks to mobilize against the amendment.
Because wedges are so 2010.

“This amendment is completely unnecessary and only serves to cloud the debate over ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ repeal by pointlessly injecting the issue of marriage equality into the conversation,” Solmonese said. “Since Pentagon officials have made it clear that they are bound by DOMA like every other federal agency, it’s puzzling why Rep. Foxx would question whether our military leaders understand this point.”

Foxx is know for her creepy politics, and off the wall comments. This is the same woman who claims that attack and death of Matthew Shepard was a hoax, while his mother was in the House Gallery, back in 2009. Lets not forget that she voted against the aid package to Hurricane Katrina, and on Health care debate.,
When commenting on the House version of the reform bill that funds counseling for end-of-life issues, Foxx said, "Republicans have a better solution that won't put the government in charge of people's health care," and "(The plan) is pro-life because it will not put seniors in a position of being put to death by their government." She later said that "we have more to fear from the potential of [the Affordable Health Care for America Act] passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country."
Foxx-Burton Amendment re Defense Funds and the DOMA
“No funds under the act may be used for activities in contravention of Public Law 104-199, the Defense of Marriage Act.”
Purpose: Indications are that some activities within the Department of Defense may be at risk of violating the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Many issues still need to be addressed with regard to the DADT repeal, but all can agree that we have laws in this country that need to be enforced; no funds should be used to violate our laws. The proposed amendment simply expresses the intent of Congress that in all military policies, regulations, programs, and matters involving benefits, funds may not be used for activities in contravention of the Defense of Marriage Act.

Rep. Virginia Foxx, the sponsor of the measure, says she wants to make it “crystal clear” that taxpayer money is not being used to train health care providers to perform abortions.
What is this women smoking or taking?? I think someone need to check her medical cabinet, to see if she has any illegal or out of date medicines in there. Wait better yet, to see if she had a lobotomy recently..
She doesn’t want Doctor to learn how to give or perform abortions, even if its to same the woman’s life.
The amendment has pass the house and now off to the senate..
Then again we all know Ms Foxx is way off her rocker.. What else do you expect from a person who claim a death of a young man was a hoax..
