HRC need an enema

I got another one of those “BIG THINGS are HAPPEN” so we need money email for HRC(The human Rights Campaign).

Every time I get one of these action email, there very little info and always a request for more money. I think its high time that Joe and the rest of the over paid desk plants to take a pay cut. Joe need to start flying coach and rent reasonable auto’s instead of taking Limo’s and First Class air fairs..

joesolmonese33853From Joe,

I just got off the phone with HRC Board Member Bruce Bastian. He's challenged HRC supporters to raise $100,000 – and he'll match every dollar with one of his own.

He's doing it because big things are happening here at HRC and all across the country – thanks to you. You've helped run ads and mobilize thousands of volunteers in an all-out blitz to win marriage equality in New York. You helped bring 250 pro-equality clergy members to Capitol Hill this week. And together we've sparked a new, national conversation about homophobia in sports.

But make no mistake. We could win in New York – or right-wing hatred could prevail. More sports stars could support equality – or more slurs could air on national TV. Speaker Boehner could stop spending tax dollars to defend discrimination in the DOMA case – or we could see a resurgence of discriminatory efforts in Congress.

It all depends on how quickly we can react to a crisis, on how skillfully we can fight when it counts – and on you.

WOW, I thought we were giving them money to work on our behalf.

All this after their massive failure in Tennessee. Where were they?? I’m sure Joe didn’t put his beauty treatment and shopping for over price suits and underwear in front of the rights of the Tennessee’s LGBT community.

The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and some of the following companies that were behind this bill: Nissan, FedEx, AT&T, Comcast, DuPont, Pfizer, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Caterpillar, KPMG, Whirlpool, Embraer, Alcoa, and United HealthCare.  Did indeed come out against the bill. ONLY after they were caught and it was apparent that they knew the ramifications of this Bill against the LGBT population of Tennessee and ONLY when it was too late to do any good.

HRC knew this and did nothing till the bill passed both houses and was on the Governor’s Desk for his signature or his veto stamp. However the Bill got his signature instead of his veto stamp.

AmericaBlogGay is reporting that Legislation overturning Metro Nashville’s anti-gay bias ordinance is on its way to Gov. Bill Haslam for his consideration after House members gave final approval yesterday and one of the most vocal backers of overturning the legislature was The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce - chaired by Nissan, and whose other board members include such companies as FedEx, AT&T, Comcast, DuPont, Pfizer, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Caterpillar, KPMG, Whirlpool, Embraer, Alcoa, and United HealthCare - The TCC lobbied for a religious right bill in the Tennessee legislature that would rescind Nashville's civil rights protections for its gay and trans citizens, and which bans every city in Tennessee from passing any civil rights laws, for anyone, ever again

According to the TN chamber of commerce,  abiding by LGBT protections would be too much of an "additional burden."  (Not discriminating against LGBT is a burden to them it seems while not discriminating because of race, religion, or handicap isn't.)
Interestingly
HRC's Equality Index gives FedEx gets a score of 80 out of 100 on its Equality Index Chart, dealing with LGBT non-discrimination policies, benefits and other practices ,  Comcast gets a 95, and AT&T has a perfect score of 100%.  Yet these companies bowed to and rallied vigorously with the the religious right which was the lead lobbyist on the law.

The ONLY victim of the law was the LGBT community.  This law was specifically written and intended to repeal Nashville's new civil rights ordinance protecting gay and trans citizens, period and do harm to LGBT citizens throughout the state of Tennessee

hrcI have to wonder what the hell is going on between the walls of the HRC building. HRC has last contact with the community, it would seem that they only Care on maintaining their pay checks and their Gala’s.

HRC's Statement read:

"In an apparent attempt to score cheap political points, Tenn. Governor Bill Haslam has ignored the business community and signed into law a bill that wipes out county and city anti-discrimination laws, despite the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry reversing their earlier support and now opposing the bill. The measure – SB 632/HB 600 – passed the legislature last week and was designed to remove protections for LGBT Tennesseans by prohibiting cities and counties from enacting discrimination bans. Since there are no state protections for sexual orientation or gender identity, the Governor’s signature of this bill becomes a green light for anti-LGBT discrimination across the state.......Discrimination should have no place in the Volunteer State and the Chamber [of Commerce]’s opposition to this law sent a strong signal that corporations are on the leading edge of positive change. In contrast Governor Haslam has put discrimination ahead of the state’s values and even business interests by signing this horrible legislation.” - Joe Solmonese

This statement only served to protest their income/donations..

Back2Stone has found the following,

In less than 10 minutes I found out that almost half the companies involved in backing Tennessee's LGBT hate law SB 632/HB 600 are sponsors of, and have connections to the Human Rights Campaign.   THIS is the real reason HRC is giving them a pass and has sent out press releases with enough "spin" to make a whirling dervish nauseous to cover for the companies asses that are involved.

HRC is no longer serving the Equality Movement instead they are serving themselves, this also goes for their board members. These are HRC boards,

Board of Directors

The Human Rights Campaign Board of Directors — a group of volunteers comprised of corporate and community leaders from throughout the country — is the governing body for the corporation. Its members determine HRC's mission and purposes, and they sustain the organization's vision.

The HRC Board of Directors has the ultimate authority over the organization's actions, including fiscal management and budget approval. Board members also establish the official policies that direct HRC.

Human Rights Campaign Foundation Board

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that encourages gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans to live their lives openly. The foundation also seeks to change the hearts and minds of Americans to the side of equality.
The HRC Foundation Board has the ultimate authority for the actions of the Foundation. The board manages the foundation's finances and establishes official policies governing the foundation.

Board of Governors

The dedicated members of the Human Rights Campaign's Board of Governors manage the organization's local outreach nationwide. They help to build HRC's membership and maintain relationships with local communities.
Each member of the HRC Board of Governors is responsible for coordinating fund raising and volunteer activity in the city or region he or she represents. Members also serve as liaisons between their local communities and HRC's staff and boards.

So which board to do or should hold countable for their recent massive failure??
