After a year of mobilizing in the courts and the streets, organizing and marching, protesting and praying,
Moral Mondays Are Heading Back to Raleigh
on Monday, May 19!
Please join us tomorrow at a press
conference to discuss the North Carolina NAACP and the Forward Together Moral Movement's plans for the short session!
Tomorrow, May 14
9 am
Outside of the General Assembly - on the State Seal
16 West Jones St.
Raleigh, NC 27601
Last year, the Forward Together Moral Mondays Movement shook North Carolina and the nation as the people took a stand against extremism and injustice.
This year, we will be back, deeply committed to our moral and constitutional vision of public policy that cares and excited to move forward together.
At tomorrow's press conference, we will mark the first day of the General Assembly's short session by addressing the return of Moral Mondays to Raleigh. We stand poised to enter the next phase of our campaign to restore our public policy to the moral and constitutional high ground.
Everyday North Carolinians who have been affected and advocates will both talk tomorrow about how these extreme policies have directly harmed our state, reminding lawmakers that their priority should be people, not ideological pandering to notions of "economic necessity" that only benefits corporations and the wealthy.
The coalition will also present the numbers that show our state is facing a Carolina setback, not a Carolina comeback.
Stand with us tomorrow as we call upon Speaker Tillis, Senate Leader Berger, Gov. McCrory and the other extremist legislators to repeal these damaging laws!
Tomorrow, the NC NAACP and the Forward Together Moral Movement will also release a five-minute promotional video that explains why we must stand together this summer against extremism as well as another letter from clergy to the General Assembly leadership.
And stand with us on Monday, May 19 at the first Moral Monday of the short session!
