From Progress North Carolina Facebook page

Only a bail bondsman (Justin Burr) and failed real estate developer (Mike Hager) could come up with a bill this stupid: eliminating the requirement that district court judges be lawyers. But don't waste your time telling these two yahoos what you think. We suggest going straight to their boss and letting him know that this bill may well be the dumbest idea proposed yet: Thom Tillis, Speaker of the NC House 919-733-3451 - or - Thom.Tillis@ncleg.net. Please Like and Share. The bill's sponsors deserve to be soundly embarrassed for even thinking this idea was in any way acceptable. For more on the bill see: http://bit.ly/YqNfhK

Budget writer defends his Writing

Rep. Burr needs to "educate" Gov. Perdue & Judge Manning. Budget writer defends changes to NC pre-K program http://t.co/w7XmKEo #ncga #ncpol

Superior Court Judge Howard Manning ruled Monday that changes to what used to be called the More at Four program would limit enrollment in the service and violate a landmark state Supreme Court ruling, the so-called Leandro II ruling, that every child has a constitutional right to an equal education.

But Rep. Justin Burr, R-Stanly, who wrote that part of the budget, says the program doesn't limit students but helps with necessary budget cuts while opening the program to more children

"One hundred percent of the funds for the pre-K program are going to be for at-risk children," Burr said.

Well as usual the GOP claim they are correct and the Judge and Governor is wrong, even if it’s a NCGA Freshman (well in his second year), like Burr, who reminds me of Oliver Twist. he might look innocent but looks can be very deceiving.. However is arrogance can be seen if you know what to look for.

in this statement his arrogances rings out like a foghorn,

"I think we've got to educate Judge Manning and Gov. Perdue on exactly what the legislation says," he said. "It just seems to be another way that the other side is trying to block our efforts to move early education in a new direction that we believe is an improvement."

Sorry Burr, but I believe Judge Manning has more experience than you on many subjects..
