Michele PR starts Clean up about the Hurricane Comment

Michele Bachmann was just kidding. God didn't send Hurricane Irene as a a wake up call for America, after all.

No she wasn’t, she just didn’t expect such a backlash over it..

alice staward"Of course she was saying it in jest," Alice Stewart, spokeswoman for Bachmann's campaign, told Reuters.

You go girl, earn that money.. However Michele really put her foot in her mouth this time..

Irene killed at least 21 people and cut power to 5 million homes and businesses along its path up the eastern seaboard from North Carolina.

I bet if there was no deaths from this hurricane, Ms Stewart wouldn’t have to spin control on Michele’s comments about the hurricane and east coast earthquake..

Douchebag of the Day Eric Cantor

I can’t believe my home state could turn out or elect a self serving asshole like Eric Cantor..

Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Irene this weekend, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today stood by his call that no more money be allocated for disaster relief unless it is offset by spending cuts elsewhere. The Washington Post reported this morning that FEMA will need more money than it currently has to deal with the storm’s aftermath and is already diverting funds from other recent disasters to deal with the hurricane, but Cantor’s comments suggest Republicans won’t authorize more funds without a fight.
Why didn’t you take a stand like this when dumb ass Bush was in office, during Katrina?? Well…

Sorry, folks in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th districts which include Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and all of the Eastern Shore are all Republican districts. All are in the path or within tropical storm strength winds. Areas of Virginia Beach are under mandatory evacuations. If you need FEMA help you just might not be able too..

Cantor was around long enough to have approved a lot of that runaway money spending. Most of Congress has been around long enough, but pretend they were not. So they can blame the First African-American President.

After Katrina, under Bush, GOP Congress approved $81.5 billion in relief funds without any spending cuts thkpr.gs/nnvs3K

FEMA Continues To Monitor Hurricane Irene

Visit Ready.gov or Listo.gov to Prepare for Hurricanes and Severe Weather
WASHINGTON - The Federal Emergency Management Agency, along with the entire federal family, is continuing to closely monitor Hurricane Irene, and is coordinating closely with all of its state and territorial partners in the Caribbean and along the East Coast that have already or could possibly experience impacts from this storm. FEMA also continues to closely monitor the earthquake that states experienced this afternoon, and remains in close contact with our federal, state and local partners.  Read more about these efforts.
Additionally, the President was briefed today about the earthquake and status of critical infrastructure.  The President was told that there are no initial reports of major infrastructure damage, including at airports and nuclear facilities and that there were currently no requests for assistance.
As part of our ongoing coordination for Hurricane Irene, FEMA's leadership is conducting daily calls with its regional offices in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and its Caribbean Area Office in Puerto Rico, the governors of the states and territories that already have or could be impacted, and its congressional and intergovernmental stakeholders.  FEMA has also been in close contact with DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano and President Obama, who has been briefed daily by his Homeland Security Advisor, John Brennan, about all federal response and preparation efforts.
Yesterday, President Obama signed an emergency declaration for Puerto Rico, making federal funding available tosupplement commonwealth and local response efforts in the area.
