Rep. Cantor refused to speak at an event because the audience was not hand picked and he would have to deal with people he previously deemed "a mob." He skirted his obligation as one of the highest-ranking members of Congress to deal with all Americans, not just the ones who agree with him. And then he lied about his reasons for canceling the event.
Rep. Cantor claimed that UPENN changed the attendance policy of the event and opened it to the public at the last minute.
This is simply not true.
UPENN spokesperson Ron Ozio said in a statement that Wharton's speaker series is "typically open to the general public, and that is how the event with Majority Leader Cantor was billed. We very much regret if there was any misunderstanding with the Majority Leader's office on the staging of his presentation."
The only Eric is willing to do, is protecting the banks, after all he has too, he had to protect his’ wife job…

I came up here today...to stand in solidarity with you because I am disgusted with what my Congressman, Eric Cantor, is doing. I want to thank each and every one of you for being here today. I know there are thousands of Virginians who wish they could be here standing beside us. It's an outrage that I had to travel 300 miles to another state just to seem my Congressman. And then he has the nerve to cancel. This doesn't surprise me. Representative Cantor rarely holds public meetings in his district and does not put out a public schedule. I once went by his district office 5 different times in 1 week...
We were expecting to hear a speech by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) about inequality in America. We were particularly intrigued to hear the speech because Cantor has previously characterized the Occupy Wall Street movement as a “mob” that wants to “divide America.”
But, shortly after noon today, Cantor abruptly canceled his speech at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. His office complained that the University was making his speech open to the public, but Cantor only wanted to speak to a “selected audience.” (Cantor’s decision followed plans for a large march and protest prior to the speech.)

Cantor had claimed that the University of Pennsylvania changed its attendance policy at the last moment, thus forcing him to withdraw. But in a statement released moments ago, the University explained that the speech was always open to the public. “The Wharton speaker series is typically open to the general public, and that is how the event with Majority Leader Cantor was billed,” a statement read.

"The Tea Party is very different," said Cantor. "The Tea Party were individuals that were attempting to address their grievances, seeking redress of their grievances, from the government they elected. It's different, from what I see, of the protesters on Wall Street and elsewhere, that are pitting themselves against others outside of government in America. That's the difference. As far as what Steny said... all I can tell you is, folks who were involved and continued, and continue to be so, in the Tea Party, are worried about government and its policies. It's not pitting one part of our country against another. And you didn't hear most of [Republicans] us encouraging any type of violent behavior, or whatever, when that was occuring. Everyone in this country has the right to speak out. That's the beauty of our system. But when elected leaders come in, and condone attacks on others in our country, that's not how it was [with us], it's not leadership."
A short while later, Politico's David Rogers pressed on part of the answer.
"Do you not see the government as part of the people?" asked Rogers. "You said before, the Tea Party was asking for redress against the government. Do you regret using the word mob? I mean, You say these people are divisive against other Americans."
"I did not say that," said Cantor.
"You said they were pitting themselves against other Americans," said Rogers.
"I said they are aiming their ire at others in our society," said Cantor.
"You made a distinction between that and aiming their ire against the government," said Rogers.
"Right," said Cantor. "The ire, from the Tea Party standpoint, is at Washington. It's at the government and its policies."
"And do you not see the government as representing the people?" asked Rogers.
"Sure," said Cantor, "it's of the people...

At the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C Friday, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) referred to the Occupy Wall Street protests as “growing mobs.”
“This administration’s policies have resulted in an assault on many of our nation’s bedrock principles,” Cantor declared. “If you read the newspapers today, I, for one, am increasingly concerned about the growing mobs occupying Wall Street and the other cities across the country.”

House Republicans next week plan to pass legislation that would close what they say are loopholes that allow last year's healthcare law to be used to provide federal support for abortions.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said the House would consider H.R. 358, the Protect Life Act, on Thursday. The bill, offered by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), amends the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) so that federal funds would be prohibited from being used to cover any part of the costs of any health plan that includes coverage for abortion services.

Last week, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) shockingly demanded that Congress should not approve emergency aid to states battered by Hurricane Irene unless it makes offsetting budget cuts elsewhere first. Several other congressional Republicans have made the same demand since then.
Now, Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-NY) has joined this chorus of disaster aid hostage takers. Hayworth, who represents a portion of New York that the hurricane hit, said Congress has to have budget cuts before it allocates more disaster aid because the “challenges we face with the national budget have not changed,” and likened it to a family skipping a vacation:
Only days after a record-setting storm destroyed her district, Rep. Nan Hayworth and her House colleagues threatened to withhold disaster money if lawmakers don’t cut additional spending from the federal budget. “We’re facing a natural disaster in the middle of an economic disaster,” Hayworth said Wednesday. “Certainly, the challenges we face with the national budget have not changed.”
Hayworth, R-Mount Kisco, said she would only vote to replenish the federal disaster fund if new spending was offset by budget cuts. She said those cuts should come from “non-defense discretionary spending.” Hayworth likened her position to a family skipping vacation if it was overwhelmed by bills. “We have to control spending,” she said. “There’s no question about it.”

Both Govs. Bob McDonnell (R-VA) and Chris Christie (R-NJ) have called on their fellow Republicans to immediately deliver disaster aid and put aside hostage taking about complimentary budget cuts.

Hayworth challenged Democratic incumbent John Hall in the 2010 election. She initially faced a difficult primary from state Assemblyman Greg Ball, but he dropped out of the race. She ran on the Republican, Conservative, and Independence Party ballot lines. She was endorsed by former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.
She is a member of the GOP Young Guns and GOP's Republican Main Street Partnership. In the Republican primary, she won with 70% of the vote. She is also a member of the conservative Republican Study Committee.
Cantor held an Advisory Council gathering, closed to the media but open to constituents who registered ahead of time, at the Holiday Inn Koger Center in Richmond. A coalition of progressive Virginia organizing groups — Progress Virginia, OurDC, and Virginia Organizing — had booked rooms and a separate ballroom in the hotel to hold a “jobs rally” countering Cantor’s event. According to organizers, the groups planned to invite Cantor to attend their rally after his own event, in the hope that he would listen to their concerns regarding job creation and unemployment.
But just hours before the events were set to begin, the Holiday Inn canceled the groups’ ballroom and room reservations and ordered the groups to remain off of hotel property during Cantor’s meeting. According to organizers, hotel management falsely accused them of smoking in their rooms and used that as justification to cancel their reservations. A representative of Holiday Inn who only agreed speak on the condition of anonymity, however, said the hotel was seeking to avoid confrontation between the progressive groups and those attending the Cantor event. He would not comment on whether the hotel had any communications with Cantor or his staff regarding the progressive groups.
Another Tea –bagger brought Congress-asshole, thinks he doesn’t have to listen to the his constituency at all. Unless they are those who give large amount of cash, and 100% agree with every damn stupid thing that comes out of his mouth.
After their reservations were canceled, the progressive groups assembled across the street and began marching to the hotel, where they were met by Virginia state police officers and hotel management demanding that they remain off Holiday Inn property. The protesters remained assembled between the Holiday Inn and the street, where they held signs protesting Cantor’s record on job creation and his legislative priorities and chanted that they wanted Cantor to focus on jobs. Multiple protesters told stories of their unemployment over a megaphone as police and hotel management looked on.
Ray Allen, a political adviser to Cantor, insinuated that these folks were organized “out of Washington”, as if Cantor has no constituents out of work in Virginia.
It doesn’t matter where they Organized the event, those that showed up for the event were from his US District.
Eric Cantor just don’t care about the folks that he was elected to Represent in Washington. Hell, he can’t even pretend to care at all, unless you are bagger.
Cantor is busy finding another phony “issue” to sell on Fox News to the cult. The cult are always invited to Cantor’s meetings because cult members don’t ask questions and they make excellent foot soldiers.
What a great few years, We have one Congresswoman, who held open meeting with her constituents, whom sadly got shot, but thought it was her job to listen to all those whom she represented in Congress. While others whom hold these Town Halls now, charge, block people from recording them, and not no admit lists, simply because they don’t want to face those whom are fed up with them putting big oil,and big business in front of what the people need..

As you know, we released The House Republican Plan for America’s Job Creators earlier this year. While the debt crisis has demanded much of our attention, our new majority has passed over a dozen pro-growth measures to address the equally troubling jobs crisis, such as the Energy Tax Prevention Act and the Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act. Aside from repeal of the 1099 reporting requirement in ObamaCare, however, each House Republican jobs bill now sits dormant in the Democrat-controlled Senate. When we return next week, the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction will begin meeting to take an additional incremental step towards addressing our debt crisis. During this time, it is essential that the House continue our focus on the jobs crisis. Below are two areas of our jobs agenda that I want to bring to your attention for our upcoming fall and winter legislative schedule.
REPEAL OF JOB-DESTROYING REGULATIONS TO CREATE MIDDLE CLASS JOBS
Since passage of H.Res. 72 on February 11, our committee chairmen have been investigating and inventorying regulatory burdens to job creators. They’ve found many that have tied the hands of small business people and prevented job growth. By pursuing a steady repeal of job-destroying regulations, we can help lift the cloud of uncertainty hanging over small and large employers alike, empowering them to hire more workers.
Our regulatory relief agenda will include repeal of specific regulations, as well as fundamental and structural reform of the rule-making system through legislation like the REINS Act, the Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act, and reform of the Administrative Procedures Act (all three bills are expected on the floor in late November and early December).
The following is a list of the 10 most harmful job-destroying regulations that our committee chairmen have identified, as well as a selective calendar for their repeal. These regulations are reflective of the types of costly bureaucratic handcuffs that Washington has imposed upon business people who want to create jobs.

Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Irene this weekend, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today stood by his call that no more money be allocated for disaster relief unless it is offset by spending cuts elsewhere. The Washington Post reported this morning that FEMA will need more money than it currently has to deal with the storm’s aftermath and is already diverting funds from other recent disasters to deal with the hurricane, but Cantor’s comments suggest Republicans won’t authorize more funds without a fight.Why didn’t you take a stand like this when dumb ass Bush was in office, during Katrina?? What if we where to experience a disaster like Japan? How prepared are we in our country? Yesterday house republican leader Eric Cantor defended republican proposals to cut spending for the United States Geological Survey, the National Weather Service, and NOAA.
Government officials predict the closure of as many as 12 NOAA offices – which provide warning services for 30 million Americans. The national weather service budget would be cut by $126 million over the next six months with furloughs at 22 forecast offices. -and shorter work weeks for the storm prediction center and the national hurricane center shall be expected.
Any local LEPC or emergency coordinator will tell you that the inability for warnings to be disseminated to the public, whether due to staffing inadequacies, radar maintenance problems, or weather radio transmitter difficulties would be disastrous.
This is the epicenter of the freak 5.9 Richter earthquake that just hit Virginia.
[Cantor], the Republican whip in the House of Representatives, bought up to $15,000 in shares of ProShares Trust Ultrashort 20+ Year Treasury ETF last December, according to his 2009 financial disclosure statement. The exchange-traded fund takes a short position in long-dated government bonds. In effect, it is a bet against U.S. government bonds — and perhaps on inflation in the future.
