Controversial Church Sign Draws Ire

PITT COUNTY -- A Pitt County church sign is drawing divided attention for its recent marquee sign --"Homosexuality Is a Sin".

The message as well as the meaning are in black and white, said Life Gate Baptist Church Pastor Tom Martin.

"I knew it would be controversial but it's a message that needs to be said," Martin said.

Adjunct Professor Jim Metzger argued that the Bible is not so clear when it comes to homosexual attitudes.

Pastor Martin said the sign outside his church is their response to Metzger's column.

"A person doesn't know he or she is a sinner unless someone tells them," Martin said. "I can't get everyone to come inside but there are a lot of people who drive up and down Highway 43 who will see the sign. We probably have a good bit of readership ourselves."

Martin claims they don’t hate us, but in every southern Baptist church they attack and degrade us, as if we are sub-human and don’t deserve to live..

Yet , these Southern Baptist Preachers do nothing more then preach hate everyday, while asking for money.. That talk a good game, but all they want is power and money..
