GASTONIA, N.C. — Anti-gay state Sen. James Forrester (R-Gaston) passed away at Gaston Memorial Hospital on Monday. The 11-term state senator and retired Air Force brigadier general was 74.
Forrester had several health problems including a heart condition. His family said that he fell ill over the weekend. He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and placed in its intensive care unit. He passed away when he was removed from life support on Monday.
As sad as this is, I can only say the following, he had been ill for sometime. Basically he was holding on to see his last goal achieved, (the marriage amendment) which is to deny a group of North Carolinians the right to get marry and have a family just like everyone else..
Now his fellow GOP’ers will no doubt make him out to be a great person who worked hard for the Good of NC.. Yeah, only if you are the right type of people..
However, Many have suffered through his and his wife's hate for over 20 years. Hateful words, hateful actions, just pure hate, all in the name of their religious piety.
remember this quote by him,
Sen. Forrester's last words were "If I'm wrong about homosexuals, may God strike me down."
I’ll show him and his family as much respect as he has shown me and mine.
However, I’ll refuse to stoop to his level of hate. But I offer no sympathy for him
