How long before the first counterfeit is made??
New, high-tech $100 bill coming in October
NBC News: After a three-year hiatus, the US Federal Reserve says redesigned $100 bills will be ATMs and banks on October 8.
The new bill will have several features the Fed says will make life difficult for counterfeiters, but should help retailers identify fakes.
They include a blue, 3-D security ribbon embedded with images of bells that change to the number 100 when you tilt the note back and forth. If you tilt it side to side, those images move up and down.

McCrory to Replace NC Board of Elections Over his involvement in Sweepstakes Money
1 day after NC Elections Bd says it will probe donations to McCrory by sweepstakes mogul, he clears the board: bit.ly/17nFP1P #ncga
RALEIGH — Gov. Pat McCrory on Friday evening announced he was replacing all members of the State Board of Elections. The appointments take effect Wednesday – just as an investigation into political contributions made to McCrory and other top Republicans’ officeholders’ campaigns is getting underway.
Three Republicans and two Democrats will replace the current three-Democrat, two-Republican board. The board’s majority represents the governor’s party.
The move puts the progress of the board’s investigation into campaign contributions from an indicted sweepstakes software company owner in question.
Not surprising at all, he got caught and now he replace the Dem control board with a Republican control.. so he can cover up his illegal actions.. Thanks NC for electing a Crook as the Governor of NC..
I foresee no more probe on this matter..
McCrory spokeswoman Kim Genardo said the timing of the appointments had nothing to do with the investigation. All five members’ terms expire April 30, and McCrory’s office wants new appointments to be made on time. The governor selects members from a list of five candidates submitted by each party. McCrory selected the top two Democrats, Genardo said.
Just what the hell has she been smoking?? this is a clear attempt to make sure there is no investigation in this matter..
The three Republican appointees donated at least $16,000 to GOP candidates and causes in recent elections, according to state and federal campaign finance records.
Cover-up in the works.
If anyone believe this crap I have a bridge I would like to sell you, its located in VA and has a very large yearly income..

NC House of Representatives Passes Voter Suppression Bill
STATEMENT BY NC NAACP
Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II, President
Accompanied by a diverse group of students from various North Carolina Colleges and Universities
Press Conference outside of General Assembly
16 W. Jones St. Raleigh, North Carolina
This legislature has already attacked the poor by denying 500,000 people access to healthcare, by refusing billions of Federal dollars, and then denying benefits to an estimated 165,000 unemployed North Carolinians by refusing even more money. They raised taxes on 900,000 poor and working people and cut taxes on 23 millionaires. They further plan to cut income taxes for the wealthy and corporate taxes at the same time.
It won’t Pass, I can bet you that..

House Introduces Congressional Term Limits Bill
Representative Matt Salmon Praised for Introducing Congressional Term Limits Amendment
April 25, 2013, Fairfax, VA—Representative Matt Salmon (R-AZ) introduced an amendment to the U.S. Constitution today which would limit the number of terms that a member of Congress may serve to three in the House of Representatives and two in the Senate.
Term limits for members of Congress has been spotlighted in recent weeks as former Senator and Vice Presidential nominee Joe Lieberman announced that after reflection on his 24 years in office that he now supported term limits.
The Lieberman statement was followed by a polls conducted by the Gallup Organization released last week showing that the American people would vote for congressional term limits by a 75 – 21 margin.
Phil Blumel, president of U.S. Term Limits, the nation's largest term limits advocacy group, called on Congress to send the Constitutional Amendment to the states for them to decide saying, "The public clearly wants term limits, and it is the ultimate conflict of interest for federal elected officials to prevent the states from making the decision on whether their own terms should be limited."
Representative Salmon is introducing the amendment on a tide of public dissatisfaction with Congress, and Blumel believes this public outcry may break the log jam that has prevented consideration stating, "Many members of Congress are hearing from their constituents that they want the tough issues in D.C. to be acted upon rather than a continual kicking of the can down the road. In this context, they are realizing that a constitutional amendment limiting terms for members of Congress may be the only way to make our political system work again.
"Now, Congress faces a crisis. The people hold the legislative branch of our federal government in such low regard largely because they believe that they are no longer represented by fellow citizens but instead by professional politicians. It is time to change this. It is time to put citizens back in charge. It is time to pass congressional term limits."
Senator David Vitter (R-LA) has introduced the same congressional term limits amendment in the U.S. Senate.
To become part of the U.S. Constitution, the amendment requires a two-thirds vote in each house of Congress and ratification by three quarters or 38 out of 50 states.

National and State NAACP Leaders Speak Out on Oppressive North Carolina Agenda
(WASHINGTON)-The NAACP President and CEO, North Carolina State Conference, and Rabbi David Saperstein, NAACP Board Member and Chair of the National Committee on Religious Affairs, released the following statement in response to recent action and newly introduced legislation in the North Carolina state legislature. The policies and bills increase voter restrictions and target healthcare expansion, unemployment benefits, education reform, and tax credits for the poor.
Benjamin Todd Jealous, President and CEO of the NAACP:
"Extremist lawmakers in North Carolina are trying to use voter suppression to advance their retrogressive political agenda," stated NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. "We support the North Carolina NAACP, the People's Coalition, and their allies in the clergy as they encourage lawmakers to promote the welfare of all citizens. We cannot allow our democracy to be compromised by politicians who would rather stop some voters from voting than do the hard work of convincing those voters to vote for them."
Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, President of the NAACP North Carolina State Conference:
"Our legislature is launching an attack on education, voting rights, the poor and the sick," said Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, President of the NAACP North Carolina State Conference. "This attack comes from the policies of the old south which requires a clear moral response, in the deepest tradition of the nonviolent movement to inspire public outcry and protest. When legislatures work to limit the voices in one group for political gain it is bad for our communities, North Carolina, and our country. It is a moral imperative that our elected officials act in the best interest of all constituencies. We encourage leaders in the faith community to engage their members and implore those officials to act as one for the sake of all. Just one person without a voice or influence is a detriment to his or her state."
Rabbi David Saperstein, NAACP Board Member and Chair of the National Committee on Religious Affairs:
"According to the North Carolina State Constitution, all political power is vested in the people and derives from their will," stated Rabbi Saperstein. "Right now that vision is under attack on multiple fronts. Lawmakers are attempting to impose their agenda by suppressing the vote, in a way that will severely hurt the most vulnerable people in the state. Their plan will only further marginalize communities that already struggle with the legacy of poverty and segregation. Those whose abiding commitment to equal rights derives from their core religious beliefs cannot and will not 'stand idly by'."

Email Share: Tell your Senator to Pee in Cup first
Yesterday, the North Carolina Senate passed a bill requiring applicants of the welfare program known as WorkFirst to first pay for, and then pass, a drug test before enrolling in the program.
Needless to say, we were pretty pee-ed off this morning.
But the good news is this bill is not law yet. With your help, we can send a strong message to our lawmakers. You can send a pee cup to your State Senator with a small $8 donation to Action NC.
This state gives money to many groups of people, including our elected officials and corporate executives, who receive millions in tax credits and government contracts. It’s disgusting (not to mention illegal!) to see lawmakers single out just one group for extra scrutiny. This group happens to be the state’s poorest families who have the least power or influence to abuse the government system.
Tell the NC General Assembly that if they are going to require drug tests for North Carolina residents, then they should pee first.
On top of that, there seems to be no need for the law. The state’s own estimates show that the drug test program may not save a dime and could cost more than $2 million per year. This is a ridiculous cost for a political stunt.
Come on - you know you're pee-ed off! Tell your legislators that unless they are willing to pee first, no one should have to do it.

Press Release: Brian Brown Introduces Vouchers Bill
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Uriah Ward
Phone: 252-565-2038
Email: UriahWard@yahoo.com
BRIAN BROWN INTRODUCES VOUCHERS BILL
NC House member Brian Brown is one of the primary sponsors of House Bill 944, which was filed on April 16th. The bill would go into effect for the 2013-2014 school year and would cost 40 million ($40,000,000) in its first year and 50 million ($50,000,000) in its second year. The bill would provide scholarships to select applicants so they can attend private schools.
The full text of the bill can be found here: http://ncleg.net/Sessions/2013/Bills/House/HTML/H944v0.html
Uriah Ward,President of the Young Democrats of Pitt County, responded to the introduction of H944: “At the core of public education is the idea that every single child has the right to be given the tools they need to succeed in life. It is not a select few that are owed that opportunity, it is everyone. Pitt County, the old home of East Carolina Teacher’s College, is the embodiment of that sentiment and this county deserves representation that stands alongside it in that ideal.
“I would never claim that our education system is totally adequate, but instead of attempting to address our problems as a state and as a county Brown has elected to provide a solution that only addresses the needs of a select few. When I look at public education I don’t see something we need to save our children from, I see something we can save them with. If you don’t think public education is doing our children service, then let’s work together to fix it so that all of our children can get the education they deserve.”
House Republican’s Propose To End 40 Hour Work Week Law
House Republican’s Propose To End 40 Hour Work Week LawHouse Republicans have introduced a bill that would end the 40-hour work week, dismantling an important component of the Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938 and hurting middle-class families across the country.
Sponsored by Rep. Martha Roby (AL), the dubiously-titled “Working Families Flexibility Act” (H.R. 1406) would remove the requirement that employers pay a cash premium for overtime work and instead allow them to offer employees compensatory time off. The effect would be an FLSA that is undermined of its only incentive against excessive hours and a cheaper way for employers to demand mandatory overtime.
Eileen Appelbaum, a senior economist with the Center for Economic Policy and Research, says the bill’s major effect would be to hurt workers, “likely increasing overtime hours for those who don’t want them and cutting pay for those who do.”
IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger wrote a letter to Congress encouraging them to vote against the bill.
“Employers can already work within the existing laws to allow workers adjusting work schedules around family needs without changing the 40-hour workweek,” Buffenbarger wrote. “‘Comp time’ proposals let the employer decide whether workers can use any accrued compensatory time. Additionally, nothing would prevent the employer from forcing workers to take time off individually or limiting whether workers can use the compensatory time at all if it is too burdensome to the work-load.”
The bill was referred to committee and could come to a vote in the House as early as next week.

NC State Rep Mike Stone is a Bully, he doesn’t like the truth about him to be aired on College Radio..
A Lee County community college stopped airing a radio talk show this month after a state lawmaker took issue with an online post a radio host wrote criticizing the lawmaker.
A legislative assistant for State Rep. Mike Stone, wrote the president of Central Carolina Community College on April 3 asking what the school’s affiliation was with “The Rant,” a weekly radio show hosted by three former Sanford-area journalists on the college’s FM radio station WDCC, 90.5. Stone is a Sanford Republican serving his second term in the state legislature.
The show’s hosts don’t plan on fighting the suspension, but will move to an online podcast format to shield the community college from negative pressure from Stone or others.
Read more here,
Little Mike doesn’t like that people were talking bad about his sorry ass.. so what does he do, get the college radio shoe taken off air.. What a effing bully.
Read the Rant here,
I guess Mike doesn’t believe we should have the right to free speech..

RALEIGH - In the face of unconstitutional, discriminatory and immoral efforts to cut early voting, end Sunday voting, eliminate same day registration and take the $2,500 tax credit from parents whose students register to vote where they attend college, the North Carolina NAACP commends the introduction of the "Ella Baker Voter Empowerment Act" (Senate Bill 708 and House Bill 689). The Ella Baker Voter Empowerment Act expands North Carolinians ability to vote. In the spirit of those who died and dedicated their lives to ensuring equal access to the vote, Senators McKissick, Robinson and Bryant as well as Representatives Alexander and R. Moore acted pursuant to the NC Constitution, U.S. Constitution and the moral fiber of this state by seeking to empower the North Carolina voter.

Moral and Religious Leaders will hold a News Conference on Monday, April 22, in Raleigh to elaborate on their concerns. Those who have signed this letter are just the Initial writers of the letter. It is presently being circulated among hundreds of ministers, rabbis, imams and other religious leaders across the state. This letter is being released on the anniversary of the release of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King's historical "Letter from Birmingham Jail," that called on all People of Faith and Good Will to take a moral stand against the outrages of the racist backlash the second reconstruction civil rights movement that Dr. King and others had built in the face of dynamitings, jailings, beatings, and great personal sacrifice from 1954.
Micah 6:8
What does God require of us but to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God.
Dear Governor McCrory, President Pro Tempore Berger, and Speaker Tillis,
We are clergy members who have devoted our careers to serving the people of North Carolina. Many of us are natives, and have lived here all our lives. We care about the moral fabric of our State. We trust you also care about the people of North Carolina-all the people.
We have never doubted the good heart of the state and its people. North Carolina ranks high in the South. It is consistently characterized as a caring state, by observers across the nation.
At the core of North Carolina's good reputation is our ability to build bridges of democracy-not walls of division. We have earned the nation's respect because most of the time we govern for the common good-the hallmark of democracy. Oh, no he didn’t! Oh, yes he did
UNBRIDLED ARROGANCE: This needs to be Shared with every North Carolinian you know. Moments after State Senator Tommy Tucker (R-Union) railroaded a bill through committee that would let local governments STOP notifying the public about crucial government activities in the local newspaper, Tucker told an NC newspaper publisher: “I am the senator. You are the citizen. You need to be quiet.” Read more about the meeting and bill here: http://bit.ly/12m4a6R. Contact Sen. Tucker at (919) 733-7659 (W), (704) 243-6695 (H) or Tommy.Tucker@ncleg.net. EQUALITY NC ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, STUART CAMPBELL
RALEIGH, N.C., APRIL 15, 2011– Equality NC and its Board of Directors announced today that Stuart Campbell, the organization’s executive director since 2011, will be leaving the organization sometime in early summer. Campbell led the state’s premier lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization during its high-profile 2011-2012 campaign against Amendment One, North Carolina’s constitutional ban on marriage equality.
“I leave Equality NC with an incredible sense of pride in the movement we have built during what could be considered the most pivotal two years in North Carolina’s LGBT rights movement.” said Campbell. “As positive momentum in favor of LGBT issues continues to build across the nation, region, and state, I am confident in the future of this organization, and remain grateful for the tireless efforts of our board, staff, and supporters to never stop fighting for Equality.”
During Campbell’s tenure with Equality NC, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization has effectively lobbied the North Carolina General Assembly, executive branch, local governments, and electorate on issues like marriage equality, employment discrimination, adoption, domestic partnership, HIV/AIDS, and more.
In the process, Equality NC secured introduction of bills protecting LGBT workers, strengthened the state’s HIV/AIDS prevention and care programs by helping defend funding for critical needs; supported the elections of a growing number of LGBT legislative candidates, including current representative, Marcus Brandon; and built a coalition of partners and community leaders who tirelessly advocate on the behalf of LGBT North Carolinians.
“Over the past two years, our fight to defeat Amendment One galvanized a state full of new and seasoned LGBT leaders and advocates, and, despite Amendment One’s passage, I truly believe we can sustain this positive momentum in future efforts to secure LGBT rights, benefits and protections.” said Campbell.
Under Campbell’s leadership, Equality NC also experienced significant growth. The statewide LGBT organization now boasts over 100,000 supporters, 50,000 online activists, including thousands of donors, hundreds of volunteers, 23 active board members, and a team of six employees. Because of these successes, Equality NC has earned a national reputation as one of the strongest and most well-respected statewide LGBT advocacy groups in the country.
“I will miss working at Equality NC, but moving forward I know the organization has never been in better hands. I will be proud to be one of the thousands of people across this state and this nation who will never stop fighting for Equality in North Carolina,” said Campbell.
Responding to Campbell’s announcement, Elaine Martin, Equality NC Board Chair said, “I am deeply sorry to see Stuart leave. Not only has he had a very positive impact on the organization, but under his leadership we’ve experienced exceptional growth and had milestones in the LGBT movement I never would have thought possible.”
Martin reported that she and Equality NC Foundation Board Chair Ken Wittenauer have already started the process of creating a search committee to oversee the recruitment and selection of the next executive director at Equality NC.
“Today, we focus on acknowledging and celebrating Stuart’s accomplishments,” said Martin. “Speaking for our board of directors, Equality NC is deeply grateful for his work and we wish him the absolute best in his future endeavors.”
Equality NC is a statewide organization working to secure equal rights and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender North Carolinians

BILL HAS GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN...
From Facebook,
They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English.
I can't even talk the way these people talk: Why you ain't, Where you is, What he drive, Where he stay, Where he work, Who you be...
And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk.
Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.
People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an Education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around.
The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids.
$500 sneakers for what?
And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.
I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2? Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol?
And where is the father? Or who is his father?
People putting their clothes on backward: Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?
People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something?
Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body? What part of Africa did this come from??
We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa.
I say this all of the time. It would be like white people saying they are European-American. That is totally stupid.
I was born here, and so were my parents and grand parents and, very likely my great grandparents. I don't have any connection to Africa, no more than white Americans have to Germany , Scotland , England , Ireland , or the Netherlands . The same applies to 99 percent of all the black Americans as regards to Africa . So stop, already! ! !
With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap ......... And all of them are in jail.
Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.
We have got to take the neighborhood back.
People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now.
We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks have to do a better job.
Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us.
We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.
We cannot blame the white people any longer.'
Dr. William Henry 'Bill' Cosby, Jr., Ed. D.
WELL SAID, BILL It's NOT about color...It's about behavior!!!

The GOP at NCGA wants gifts aka bribes
Raleigh, N.C. — A veteran Republican House lawmaker has filed a proposal to allow lobbyists to once again give unreported gifts to state lawmakers in North Carolina.House Bill 640, filed by Rep. Robert Brawley, R-Iredell, would roll back many of the ethics reforms passed by state lawmakers in the wake of the House Speaker Jim Black scandal of 2006.
This only proves how corrupt the NCGA Republicans are.. Now they want gifts and money from lobbyist to pass bill that lobbyist employers aka Corporations, to make laws that favor them..
I guess need money for another house, maybe a car, or a vacation.. Just as long he doesn’t have to spend his money..
Brawley also said in his message that the gift ban and other ethics laws pertaining to lawmakers and lobbyists "are an impediment to meeting and exchanging ideas and information."
No Brawley, the law is to make sure someone doesn’t buy laws to favor them.. you jack ass.
House Bill 589 Requiring Voter Photo ID is a Disguised Poll Tax
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
11 April 2013
For More Information: Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, President, 919-394-8137
Mrs. Amina J. Turner, Executive Director, 919-682-4700
Atty. Jamie Phillips, Public Policy Coordinator, 919-682-4700
A new tax is headed to North Carolina if House Bill 589 is passed next week. Under the bill, voters will be required to pay for a photo ID before voting. The bill claims to provide free photo IDs and birth certificates to those who sign a statement swearing - under penalty of perjury - that paying a fee would present a financial hardship. Nowhere in the bill is "financial hardship" defined, leaving it up to an arbitrary determination by those distributing the IDs. A penalty of perjury for not actually being "poor" is a slippery slope. Ultimately, no voter should pay a poll tax or have to pay anything to exercise their right to vote - rich or poor! A poll tax is a poll tax even if you can afford it. Poll taxes are a violation of the 14th, 15th, and 24th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution and Article I, Section 10 of the NC Constitution which says "All elections shall be free."
House Bill 589 will also disadvantage many students, treating students attending public universities different than students attending private universities, i.e. Shaw University and Wake Forest University. This is because only state issued IDs are acceptable forms of voter ID, therefore private school IDs are not acceptable and those students will have to purchase an ID. Furthermore, they could not provide universally free photo IDs even if they so desired. The provision to provide free birth certificates and marriage licenses would not cover people who were born or married outside the state. For example, someone without a birth certificate from New York state would have to pay $45 to get one, which would be necessary for some people to get an acceptable photo ID. The law still cannot address the long waits, travel time and hassle that will deter others from getting this ID and voting. The ill-conceived bill will cost the state money that should have been used to expand Medicaid, fund public schools or help maintain unemployment insurance for the 170,000 laid off workers in our state.
