NC NAACP Holds News Conference to Discuss SCOTUS Decision on the Voting Rights Act of 1965

DURHAM - The North Carolina NAACP and legal experts will hold a news conference on Wednesday morning to discuss the US Supreme Court's shameful decision to gut one of the crown jewels of the civil rights movement, the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The news conference will take place at 114 W. Parrish Street, Durham, NC on the 3rd Floor at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

"Make no mistake, this is a direct attack on the power of the changing vote and power of the African American and minority vote in the South by Tea Party and ultraconservative forces," said Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II, President of the NC NAACP. "This is a direct attempt to hold on to the Solid South and break the back of the growing 21st century fusion politics movement that is reshaping electoral politics now and for the future."
