Mitt Romney lost the election because President Barack Obama engaged in voter suppression, according to Republican political strategist Karl Rove. "He succeeded by suppressing the vote," Rove said in an interview on Fox News with anchor Megyn Kelly on Thursday afternoon, "by saying to people, 'You may not like who I am and I know you can't bring yourself to vote for me, but I'm going to paint this other guy as simply a rich guy who only cares about himself.'"

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT ON HURRICANE SANDY
FEMA Headquarters
Washington, D.C. 1:55 P.M. EDT
THE PRESIDENT: Well, good afternoon, everybody. Obviously, all of us across the country are concerned about the potential impact of Hurricane Sandy. This is a serious and big storm. And my first message is to all the people across the Eastern seaboard, Mid-Atlantic, going north, that you need to take this very seriously and follow the instructions of your state and local officials, because they are going to be providing you with the best advice in terms of how to deal with this storm over the coming days.
We just had an excellent meeting with the FEMA team here, the various agencies that are in charge, including the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy and others that are going to need to respond very quickly.
Under Craig Fugate's leadership here at FEMA we've had a chance to talk to the regional officials as well. And I just had a phone call with the governors of the potentially impacted states, as well as some of the major cities in the region.
At this stage, everybody is confident that the staging process, the prepositioning of resources, commodities, equipment that are going to be needed to respond to this storm are in place. But as Craig has emphasized, this hasn't hit landfall yet, so we don't yet know where it's going to hit, where we're going to see the biggest impacts. And that's exactly why it's so important for us to respond big and respond fast as local information starts coming in.
I want to thank all the members of the team for the outstanding work that they’re doing. But the other thing that makes this storm unique is we anticipate that it is going to be slow moving. That means that it may take a long time not only to clear, but also to get, for example, the power companies back in to clear trees and to put things back in place so that folks can start moving back home.
So my main message to everybody involved is that we have to take this seriously. The federal government is working effectively with the state and local governments. It’s going to be very important that populations in all the impacted states take this seriously, listen to your state and local elected officials.
My message to the governors, as well as to the mayors, is anything they need, we will be there. And we’re going to cut through red tape. We’re not going to get bogged down with a lot of rules. We want to make sure that we are anticipating and leaning forward into making sure that we’ve got the best possible response to what is going to be a big and messy system.
So again, thank you, everybody. Craig, would you like add to something?
MR. FUGATE: Again, as the President says, it’s going to really come down to the public heeding those evacuation orders, taking protective measures. If they haven’t gotten ready, they can go to Ready.gov. Get information on how to protect them and their families, but also check on your neighbors. This is going to be a big storm. We need to be there for each other.
THE PRESIDENT: Okay. Let me emphasize that again -- Ready.gov -- for the general public. If you need to know how to respond, that’s where you can get centralized information.
But I think Craig’s point is exactly right. In times like this, one of the things that Americans do is we pull together and we help out one another. And so, there may be elderly populations in your area. Check on your neighbor, check on your friend. Make sure that they are prepared. If we do, then we’re going to get through this storm just fine. But we’re going to have to make sure that we are vigilant, and vigilant for a couple of days. Don’t anticipate that just because the immediate storm has passed that we’re not going to have some potential problems in a lot of these communities going forward through the week.

We now know that the State Department sent an email to the White House, the Pentagon, the FBI and others in the intelligence community about this Islamist group claiming responsibility. And yet for days afterwards the White House and State Department led everyone to believe that the attack was the result of a spontaneous protest over an obscure YouTube video that had been uploaded months prior. Anywhere from 300 to 400 people from the administration and our intelligence community would have seen that email. Why the lies? Why the cover up? Why the dissembling about the cause of the murder of our ambassador on the anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil? We deserve answers to this. President Obama’s shuck and jive shtick with these Benghazi lies must end.

SUBJECT: What to Expect in Tonight’s Debate
Tonight, the President and Mitt Romney will debate each other for the first time. Both sides have worked to set expectations on their candidates – from the amount of time the candidates have spent preparing, to the number of “zingers” Mitt Romney has memorized.
But, the American people aren’t going to pick the winner of this debate based on style or good attack lines. If they were, then the Republican Convention’s “empty chair” moment should have been a great success.
Instead, they’re going to pick the winner on substance. They’re looking for the candidates to lay out specific, concrete policies to move this country forward, not back to the same policies that created the crisis in the first place and punished the middle class. Tonight provides an opportunity for both President Obama and Mitt Romney to do that.
The President looks forward to that conversation – because it’s one he started six years ago and has continued ever since. In taking emergency steps to save the economy from another depression, rescuing the auto industry, reforming health insurance, putting new rules in place for Wall Street, cutting taxes for small businesses and the middle class and helping more Americans afford a college education and pay their mortgages, the President has made real and significant progress with one goal in mind: to restore middle class security. We’ve now had 30 straight months of private-sector job growth, during which businesses have created 5.1 million jobs.
For the next four years, President Obama has laid out real and achievable goals, and a specific path to get there, restoring middle-class security and creating jobs and long-term economic growth.
Mitt Romney comes to this debate in a different position. He doesn’t have any specific plans to move us forward – only tired repeats that will take us back. On job creation, deficit reduction, and the middle class, Romney’s promises are nothing more than platitudes covering up a collection of contradictory positions. In short, they aren’t serious steps to move our country forward. So, Romney can use tonight’s debate to fill in those details and finally, for the first time, explain his proposals or readjust his positions. Or he can spend 90 minutes doing what he does best: attacking the president, distorting his own record, and avoiding any and all details on his plans for this country.

NAACP Commends President Obama on Immigration Executive Order
(Washington, DC) – The NAACP commended President Barack Obama on his executive order to defer deportation of promising youth and students eligible for the DREAM Act.
“President Obama is taking an affirmative step toward addressing our nation’s immigration concerns while protecting our supply of intellectual capital,” stated NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. “This decision ensures that America retains a future generation of well-educated workers and thinkers who can offer diverse perspectives on the challenges of the twenty-first century.”
The NAACP has strongly supported the “Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors Act”, or DREAM Act. The DREAM Act would allow thousands of young immigrants to become permanent citizens if they demonstrated good moral character and met other educational or military requirements.
“This decision allow hundreds of thousands of young people – people who have worked hard, integrated themselves into the American culture and into American communities and stayed away from trouble – to fulfill their dream and the dreams of their parents and to become American citizens,” stated Hilary O. Shelton, NAACP Sr. Vice President for Advocacy and Policy and Director of the NAACP Washington Bureau. “While Congress is stuck in gridlock, this is a good first step toward that goal.”

GetEqual: Say goodbye to your First Amendment rights
Our right to protest elected officials is about to be destroyed, and President Obama is the only person who can save it.
The House and Senate are sending President Obama a bill that would make it illegal to protest anyone under Secret Service protection, or at any location sanctioned as being of "national significance" -- including the Democratic and Republican conventions, or even the next Super Bowl!
All over the country, the right to protest is under attack. Just yesterday, an LGBT organizer in my home state of Mississippi had his permit to march revoked because he couldn't afford liability insurance -- just one more way that governments are putting up barriers to the rights of minority citizens. This legislation in Congress adds another layer of challenges to our First Amendment rights. Under this law, the act of protesting could bring jail time of up to 10 years!
Protesting unjust leadership is how we create pressure for positive change, and remind our fellow Americans that there is dignity in refusing to accept injustice. By speaking truth to power and disrupting those who use their office to bully LGBT people, we challenge evil and create the ability for the system to accept our demands.

President Obama Rolls into Town!
As President Obama's bus tour rolls into Asheville, the President and Democrats keep spinning their wheels with the same old song and dance of more government spending, higher taxes, and promoting their already proven and destine to fail Policies.
President Obama will give a few inspirational speeches and the liberal special interest will spend $10's of millions of dollars on their Democrat Propaganda. Some Americans will rally around Obama's repackaged agenda and failed policies. I wish I had an answer as to why they will do this. Why do they continue to support rising un-employment? Why do they support continued efforts to divide Americans? Why do they continue to support increasing efforts to limit our ability to compete in the World economy, push corporations overseas, and vilify the very people who can lead us to a revived and prosperous America? I do not know, but there are very clear differences between where President Obama and the Democrats want to take our country and where Republicans want to lead our Nation - economic renewal, expanded opportunities, security, freedom and unity.
Since President Obama was sworn in more than 2.6 million Americans have lost their jobs and He has added more than $4 trillion to our national debt, not including future obligations. Under President Obama and Governor Perdue more 300,000 North Carolinians have lost jobs. The unemployment rate in NC is 10.4 percent, far worse than the already intolerable 9.4 percent nationally.
President Obama promised that massive Government spending would put people back to work. He continues to openly argue that it has, but the numbers don't lie. 400,000 jobs lost last week alone and with our economy barely sputtering and almost out of gas they continue to push these same policies. Obviously, they just don't understand these things are not working. I suppose their continued denial shouldn't surprise us, Democrats haven't even cared enough about America's future to simply put together a budget in more than 900 days, but who needs a budget anyway.
The people of North Carolina and America deserve better than an ever expanding government ignoring reality, higher taxes and a foreign policy of apology and appeasement.
So let the Obama bus continue rolling down the same dead end road until the American people asked him to hit the road in 2012.

I’m sorry but here lately it’s the GOP who is doing the Dividing of American, not only at our Nation Capital but here in NC too. Last week Tillis foot in mouth for suggesting the state "find a way to divide and conquer" those receiving public assistance. He made the comments at a town hall meeting in Madison County earlier this month.
Even the GOP Chair Robin Hayes chimes in too about the bus tour,
"If the President cared about passing a real bill, instead of simply misleading the public by campaigning against Republicans, he would have stayed in DC and gotten a deal done," GOP Chairman Robin Hayes said in a statement.

As a Nation of immigrants, America has been shaped and strengthened by the millions who have come to our shores seeking a better future. German men and women were among the first to have made the perilous journey across the Atlantic to seize the promise of the American dream. The same spirit that guided intrepid settlers to help establish Jamestown, Virginia, and found Germantown, Pennsylvania, is reflected in the indelible contributions to our common culture that we celebrate today.
Today, nearly one quarter of all Americans trace their ancestry to Germany, and many familiar American traditions -- from Christmas trees to kindergarten -- have German origins. German descendants have fundamentally and positively shaped the course of American history. From the wheels of labor and the fields of sport, to the halls of power and throughout our society, generations of German Americans have helped make America what it is today.

However this event is not tax deductible.

Tomorrow President Obama will be in the Raleigh area to promote his new business plan to get people back to work.
Yesterday and today we LGBT North Carolinians had a rude awakening about our own protections in this state when the House and Senate both passed the anti-LGBT constitutional amendment that will be on the May 2012 ballot.
We are trying to organize, last minute I know, an action tomorrow at the Obama event to ask Obama to evolve already on marriage equality. It is perfect timing to hold our president accountable and ask him to speak up against the bigotry we are facing from our elected representatives.
If you can go please email me asap or call me at (number removed) We will be arranging rides from Asheville and if you are in the Raleigh area we will have a designated meeting spot.
This will NOT be an arrestable action. It will be a bold action to simply ask the President of the United States to stand for us in our time of need.

Fourth Circuit Tosses Virginia Challenge To Obamacare
The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals today rejected two different attacks on the Obama healthcare reform act, delivering a double blow to opponents who hope to use the courts to nullify the law as unconstitutional. The decisions also set up a double conflict among courts that only the U.S. Supreme Court can unravel: Whether the healthcare act is constitutional, and whether states have a right to sue over it in the first place. Courts in Florida and Georgia have upheld state-led challenges to Obamacare, while the Fourth Circuit threw out Virginia's case against the law.
