Will there be an Abortions Fight in NC this Year??
First off I’m against Abortions as a form of Birth Control, However even I know there are cases where Abortions are need and so be allow with the State interfere. I would never stand in a woman way to have one, nor would I be outside of a clinic protesting against them..
I don’t know what is in the head of the NC GOP and there war on women, if it was for a woman their bigoted ass’s wouldn’t be here.
However Rep Paul Stam thinks he has the right to make these choices for women here in NC.
he recently stated the following,
“In NC you can get an abortion for any reason, including sex-selection abortions,” that’s something we’ve got to deal with.”
Now remember that the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, gave the women the right to Abortions, and the State Reps knows this. They simply can’t out right ban Abortions, but they can make it very hard or Women to get one.
I only wish Mrs. Stam had a Abortion way back when she was carrying this waste of flesh in her womb..
However no matter what’s the legal outcome is,it won’t end the 40 year debate over the issue.
So what will 2013 hold for Abortions in NC, how many rallies and protest will follow?

Paul “Skip” Stam gets a Challenger for his Seat
Its report that a Fuquay-Varina attorney, Jason Wunsch a democrat has filed papers to run against House Majority Leader Paul Stam of Apex..
Jason is a 1999 Campbell law school graduate and the owner of the Law Offices of Jason Wunsch, with offices in Lillington, Fuquary-Varina and Sanford
Jason gave this as the reason why he is running,
“I am running because I care about my daughters future,” Wunsch said. “North Carolina currently ranks 49th in the nation in classroom spending behind Mississippi and South Carolina. We can and must do better. Our children and grand children deserve a quality education. We should work to attract the retain the best teachers and make it a priority to keep class sizes small,so that students receive the individualized attention they deserve.”
Lets hope the voters tell Skippy that he is the weakest link, Goodbye..

Paul Stam: What will the marriage amendment do
1. The Marriage Amendment will not adversely affect North Carolina’s economy. A 2011report by the American Legislative Exchange Council ranked states by economic performance between 1999 and 2009 and by economic outlook. 8 of the top 10 economically performing states have marriage amendments. None have legalized same sex marriage, civil unions or domestic partnerships. 9 of the 10 states forecasted to have the poorest economic growth have legalized same sex marriage, civil unions and/or domestic partnerships.
2. The Marriage Amendment Will Not Affect The Enforcement Of Domestic Violence Laws. Opponents would have you think the Amendment obliterates our domestic violence law. The cases they use as authority are Ohio appellate cases later overturned by the Ohio Supreme Court which found the domestic violence statutes consistent with the state’s marriage amendment. In Kansas the outcome was the same. Marriage amendments have had no effect on the enforcement of domestic violence statutes. 30 other states have marriage amendments. In all 30 states domestic violence laws continue to be enforced. I have read and reread our domestic violence statutes. I am unable to even comprehend the logic of this objection.
3. Legally Recognizing Only Heterosexual Marriage Isn’t Discrimination Against Homosexuals Wanting To Marry. Marriage between a man and a woman has existed in virtually every known society. It has served the purpose of channeling procreative sexual activity into an institution which will provide a stable environment for children produced from the sexual union of the partners in marriage. Recognizing that heterosexual marriage has provided the best environment for the rearing of future citizens North Carolina has regulated marriage for at least 340 years. Same sex marriage is an entirely different relationship with a completely different purpose. Expanding the marital institution to other relationships which serve completely different purposes ultimately undermines the institution which has proven to be the best and safest environment for children.
4. The Amendment Will Not Nullify Medical Powers of Attorney (MPOAs), Wills and Trusts if the parties are homosexual partners.
Under G.S. 32A-18 “any competent person who is not engaged in providing health care to the principal for renumeration, and who is 18 years of age or older, may act as a health care agent.” The relationship between the patient and the designated agent does not matter. The intent of the testator and trustor is the “gold standard” in NC for interpreting wills and trusts. The Amendment does not change the intent of the testator in either type of these instruments. The Amendment explicitly states that it will not affect the rights of parties to enter into private contractual agreements.
5. The Marriage Amendment Will Not Determine the Custody and Visitation Rights of Unmarried Parents Unless Their Behavior Affects the Child. Custody orders are based on the “parent”/child relationship, not on the domestic relationship between the “parents”. Courts have based custody and visitation on the “best interest of the child.” NCGS 50-13.2(2007) The sexual behavior of the party petitioning for custody or visitation is not determinative except as it affects the child.
The “de facto parenting doctrine” was applied in 2010 in Boseman v. Jarrell. The Supreme Court refused to allow adoption to an unmarried same sex partner but did award joint custody and visitation rights to that non-biological same sex partner who had become a de facto parent to the child.
I see that Stam is working with the bigots and haters, who would kick their own kids out on to the streets if they are gay..

Hey Tami What will your group do if the amendment is voted down.. What will you little sick we are be oppressed Christian group do ? Since you won’t be able to ask the courts for help.. Once voted down, I’m sure the NC people won’t waste time and money to put it back on the ballot..

Paul B. "Skip" Stam, Jr. (born September 5, 1950 in Princeton, NJ) is a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 37th House district, including constituents in Wake County. An attorney from Apex, North Carolina, Stam was elected to his sixth (non-consecutive) term in the state House of Representatives in 2010. He was first elected in 1988, but was defeated for re-election in 1990. He ran unsuccessfully for the state Senate and for the North Carolina Court of Appeals (in 1998 and 2000) before being elected to the House again in 2002.[1]
Stam won re-election from the 37th House district in the 2004 General Assembly election, defeating Libertarian H. Wade Minter in the November general election. In 2006, Stam was unsuccessfully challenged by Ed Ridpath (vote count: Stam 15,459 votes, Ridpath 11,628).
In December 2006, Stam and Rep. Fred Steen ran for House Republican Leader after Joe L. Kiser stepped down from the position.[2] Stam was elected by his fellow House Republicans to the post. After Republicans won a majority in the state House in the 2010 elections, Stam lost a vote to become the party's nominee for Speaker of the House to representative Tom Tillis, but was elected Majority Leader instead.[3]

Did Paul forget that it was him and Folwell that held the first Presser on this Amendment. Also if forget that even politicians change their minds over a decade, and/or they actually listen to the people they represent..
Paul is playing in the hands of the those racist teabaggers, and the religious bigots whom just as whack out as the bagger..
Also Paul, if don’t know what a true southern bigot look like, please go to the nearest mirror in our home or office and take a good long look in it..
Also I have to wonder how much these religious groups and bagger are giving you under the table..
The other side was correct, the NCGA Focus should be jobs not on this issue..

Democratic Legislative Leader Accuses Governor Bev Perdue And Attorney General Roy Cooper of a form of “Hate Speech”
Raleigh – Former Speaker of the House (and now Minority Leader) Joe Hackney (D-Orange) continues to accuse the membership and leadership of both the Democratic and Republican parties of engaging in a “form of hate speech.”
On August 30, 2011, Speaker Hackney responded to a press conference held by Republican legislative leaders on the proposed constitutional amendment to define marriage. He stated, “This proposed constitutional amendment runs against the tide of history, and has become a form of hate speech.”
While there are major procedural differences between the “No Same Sex Marriage” statute of 1996 (SB 1487) and the proposed constitutional amendment, the policy is exactly the same: North Carolina will not recognize same sex marriages – whether performed in-state or out of state. On this point the “marriage amendment” is identical with the law that Gov. Bev Perdue and Attorney General Roy Cooper voted for as Senators in 1996.
But if Speaker Hackney claims that only a constitutional amendment (but not a statute) can be considered a “form of hate speech,” it would be well for him to remember the ten current Democratic members of the House who have sponsored this constitutional amendment, which was first proposed jointly by Democrats and Republicans during the 2003-2004 legislative sessions. The SPLC identifies both AFA and FRC as hate groups for their anti-gay rhetoric. At a news conference earlier today (link), Republican Reps. Paul "Skip" Stam and Dale Folwell suggested that their proposed constitutional amendment against gay marriage would pass handily if Gov. Bev Perdue, a Democrat, didn't interfere.
Perdue said Tuesday afternoon she hasn't been working on the issue.
“I haven’t made any calls against that I know of against that... . The point is that for the last five days we’ve focused on nothing but hurricanes and I find it hard to believe you’ve got legislative leaders who are focused on gay marriage when we’ve got people who are totally devastated, lost their homes," Perdue said. "It looks to me like they’d focus on what’s important to North Carolina: hurricane fist and then jobs. That’s what they’re supposed to be doing, not working on social issues that just divide the state.”
Pressed for her position on the issue, Perdue had nothing good to say about it.
“I have heard discussed in the presence of Speaker Tillis and other that this may be bad for business, I don’t intend to do anything that’s bad for business. But right now, let me be very direct with y’all, I don’t care what they talk about. I’m talking about hurricane recovery and getting these people back together and jobs. And they ought to be talking about the same thing," Perdue said.
Perdue is right recovery after Irene is more important then this stupid bigot amendment..

Raleigh – A Marriage Amendment will be considered during the legislative session starting September 12th.
Amendment Stronger than Statute
A constitutional amendment is needed for several reasons. The most important reason is because voters have been demanding the right to vote on such a major issue since at least 2003. It was the first year an amendment was introduced, sponsored by Democratic leaders (see other handouts). Secondly, the state’s current statutes are insufficient in the current legal environment. The definition of marriage is the foundation to society. It should not be left to one activist judge to write its definition. Thirdly, it’s a legislator’s responsibility to put such an important decision in the voters’ hands.
“Whether you’re Democratic or Republican, why wouldn’t you want to do everything possible to represent the people of your district,” Speaker Pro Tem Dale Folwell, R-Forsyth said. “This amendment pushes power away from Raleigh and to the people of North Carolina.”
“In 1994 the General Assembly reformed the policy that defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman,” House Majority Leader Paul Stam, R-Wake, said. “Legal developments from other states require that this policy be in the Constitution in order to be fully effective.”
Bottom Line
It’s the legislature’s responsibility to offer long-term solutions to the issues facing North Carolina. The only long-term solution to the marriage issue is to put the question to the voters. They have been demanding the opportunity to vote on an amendment for almost 10 years. It’s time they get it.

After watching it, I felt ill, however Stam brought up pedophilia, incest and polygamy, which has been used over and over, it like they are reading from a prewritten script from the fundies… He also claim that the kids of the future have to be protected..
Folwell kept pushing the idea of letting the people to vote on it and settle it once and for all. However if this is the case, then let the people vote on Divorce, if it should be allow or not. if they are so concern and really want to protect marriage as they claim..
Most North Carolinians are more concern at the moment rebuilding from the recent hurricane.
The only folks pushing for this amendment is religious bigots who wants to control other people lives..
Stam is just a dumbass, I guess in his mind you are who are no matter what. So I guess he is the same person he was back in 1996..

For some, defining marriage has become a deeply emotional issue, and the fairest way to mediate such a controversial public policy issue is to trust the people and let them have the freedom to decide.
If this is the case when do we (the People) get to vote to outlaw divorce?
This Amendment is not needed, it also not worth the time and money right now. We need jobs creation, Where are the jobs that the (gop) promise when they were elected into office..

Does Paul Stam have Memory Problem?
I think Paul Stam is suffering from some type of Memory disorder, or he just
Stam has let the power of his job go to that oversize balloon, that he calls his head. Also Stam is just a over grown bully in the NCGA, not happy us he gets his way, Period.

April 5, 2006Every day it becomes more evident that there will be a change in the Speakership by opening day of the General Assembly. Yet, more important than changing the Representative who holds the gavel is changing how the House operates.
North Carolina desperately needs to transform our state government into a modern 21st Century democracy. It’s time to leave behind the secrecy, the log rolling and the perception that trading campaign cash for legislative favors is required or helpful.
There are issues the House can address on opening day – fundamental reforms that will create a climate of open and honest government, restore integrity to the legislative process, and renew the public’s confidence in our governing institutions and leaders.
All of these reforms can be subverted by a speaker or rules chair who won’t enforce the rules. More than anything we need presiding officers who will commit to actually apply the rules adopted by the House in a fair and transparent manner. We will be requesting any new incoming Speaker of the House publicly address these issues, and pledge to implement and uphold the reforms we need to restore open government to the citizens of our State.
- Place a limit of three terms on any future Speaker of the House.
- Each party caucus to determine its own membership on all committees, (standing, select and conference) proportional to its representation in the House.
- No Legislation in the main budget beyond that necessary to carry out the appropriations and revenue items.
- No provisions in the conference report which were not previously in the House or Senate version of the budget or which are necessary to effectuate a true compromise of provisions in dispute.
- No voting by floaters (ex-officio members) on any committee.
- No closed-door sessions of the budget conference committee. Public announcement of meetings of the committee or its subcommittees.
- Independent redistricting commission.
- Rules revised to restore the Regular Order employing standard parliamentary principles to the operation of business in the House.
Yet he did the very thing that he call for reform of.

Stam, Fraudulent Vote
Somebody needs to check Rep. Paul Stam's ID. The House majority leader committed voter fraud Tuesday.
Of course, that's not a felony in the General Assembly. There, it's only a parliamentary maneuver to keep a bill alive. Still, there's something classically cynical about Stam voting with Democrats against overriding Gov. Bev Perdue's veto of the bill that orders voters to produce a picture ID at the polls.
If it not allow in public forum then it should be allow in the NCGA at all. Its time for Stam to quit.
But thanks to Stam's own bit of voter fraud, it may yet become law, because his bogus vote was a parliamentary maneuver that allowed the bill to be reconsidered.
