Pat McCrory to the Unemployed, F-off I only have time for Special interest groups for now.
State House and Senate Democrats are calling on Gov. Pat McCrory to save federal unemployment benefits scheduled to end July 1 for 71,000 people in North Carolina.Raleigh, N.C. —
McCrory says that call won't be answered.
Well Pat is living it up at his so-called serect fund raiser event in Greenboro, NC. Where donors will shell out between $5000.00 to $35,000.00. I bet anything folks from the payday lending group, internet sweepstakes group and other special interest will be there.
The event at the Grandover Resort is part of a retreat for the Renew North Carolina Foundation, a nonprofit that some of McCrory’s supporters formed after his election. Under federal rules, the 501(c)(4) group doesn’t have to reveal its donors, is not constrained by traditional political donation limits, and can spend money to promote “social welfare” causes, including political ones.
What is being said about this event,
The Grandover event concerns North Carolina good government groups, particularly since the timing lines up with the waning weeks of the current state legislative session.
Major bills — including the state budget and proposals to tinker with the state tax code — are headed soon to McCrory’s desk.
“It’s, again, another instance of big money politics,” said Bob Phillips, executive director of Common Cause North Carolina. “People with agendas, who have lots of money, will have access to the governor.”
Pat goal it to get people into jobs, not to continue unemployment, well this is great ideal, but the NC GOP has fail to produce any job bills what would do just that. Remember this is the same guy who gave his staff very large raises while many other state employees haven’t seen a raise in years.
Remember,
The benefits are 100 percent federally funded, and cutting them off will mean the loss of more than $500 million, most of it flowing into the state's worst-hit economic areas --said State Democrats.
once its done this will happen,
The overhaul takes effect next Monday. Under federal rules, states that change their unemployment benefits lose eligibility for federal extended benefits, paid to long-time jobless workers who have exhausted other assistance.
Rep Joe Sam Queen had this to say,
"We are not recovering, and what we're doing at this General Assembly is not creating jobs,"

NC NAACP Statement on the Terribly Troubling U.S. Supreme Court Ruling on the Voting Rights Act of 1965

Yesterday, five U.S. Supreme Court Justices ruled against all voters of color and our ancestors who, not so long ago, were terrorized, tricked, beaten and killed for even talking about exercising their 15th Amendment Rights. Ignoring the historical and present day facts carefully assembled by the four dissenting Justices, the five ultra-extremist Tea Party backed Justices decided to place our Voting Rights Act, and its Constitutional parent, the 15th Amendment, in the back of the bus--in legislative limbo. They are betting their Tea Party friends in Congress can maintain the limbo long enough for them to consolidate their strategy in Congress.
Make no mistake. This is a direct attack on the power of the changing electorate and the power of the African American and minority voters in the South. This is a direct attempt to hold on to the solid South and break the back of the growing 21st century Fusion Politics Movement, a movement that is reshaping electoral politics in the present and for the future. State Senator Tom Apodaca described the Voting Rights Act as a "headache." His statement was irresponsible and insensitive to the history of inequality of voting rights in North Carolina and in the South.

Statement by the President on the Supreme Court Ruling on the Defense of Marriage Act
THE WHITE HOUSE
Office of the Press Secretary
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 26, 2013
I applaud the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act. This was discrimination enshrined in law. It treated loving, committed gay and lesbian couples as a separate and lesser class of people. The Supreme Court has righted that wrong, and our country is better off for it. We are a people who declared that we are all created equal – and the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.
This ruling is a victory for couples who have long fought for equal treatment under the law; for children whose parents’ marriages will now be recognized, rightly, as legitimate; for families that, at long last, will get the respect and protection they deserve; and for friends and supporters who have wanted nothing more than to see their loved ones treated fairly and have worked hard to persuade their nation to change for the better.
So we welcome today’s decision, and I’ve directed the Attorney General to work with other members of my Cabinet to review all relevant federal statutes to ensure this decision, including its implications for Federal benefits and obligations, is implemented swiftly and smoothly.
On an issue as sensitive as this, knowing that Americans hold a wide range of views based on deeply held beliefs, maintaining our nation’s commitment to religious freedom is also vital. How religious institutions define and consecrate marriage has always been up to those institutions. Nothing about this decision – which applies only to civil marriages – changes that.
The laws of our land are catching up to the fundamental truth that millions of Americans hold in our hearts: when all Americans are treated as equal, no matter who they are or whom they love, we are all more free.

NC NAACP Holds News Conference to Discuss SCOTUS Decision on the Voting Rights Act of 1965

These Women shouldn’t be allow to work in the Government!
Amid a heated debate over a restrictive anti-abortion bill being pushed by Texas GOP lawmakers, one Republican argued that a proposed exemption for rape victims was unnecessary because assaulted women could simply turn to rape kits for abortions.
"In the emergency room they have what’s called rape kits, where a woman can get cleaned out," said state Rep. Jodie Laubenberg (R), sponsor of the controversial SB 5, according to The Associated Press.

Jindal signs a very unconstitutional law into law.. Tell the Press what they can and can’t write about..
Media Matters points out a story overlooked last week by almost all of mainstream media:
On June 19, Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) signed a bill that sets penalties of up to six months in jail and $10,000 for those who publish "any information regarding the identity of any person who applied for or received a concealed handgun permit." The law includes exceptions for cases in which the concealed handgun holder is charged with a felony offense involving the use of a handgun. Supporters cited as their rationale for proposing the law a New York paper's controversial December publication of a Google map that featured the names and addresses of local handgun permit holders, saying that the legislation was necessary to prevent local media outlets from publishing similar information.

On Juneteenth Holiday
June 19, 1865--or Juneteenth--is celebrated around the world as the day of liberation for millions of enslaved African Americans in the southern states. Although all enslaved people in the southern states that were still engaged in an open rebellion against the United States had been declared free in January 1, 1863, in most of the states there were not enough U.S. military forces to enforce the end of slavery. When the U.S. Navy fleet sailed into the Galveston Harbor in Texas, however, with sufficient U.S. military forces to back up his words of freedom, U.S. General Gordon Granger read U.S. Army General Order #3: "The people of Texas are informed that in accordance with a Proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves, and the connection heretofore existing between them becomes that between employer and free laborer."
"Gov. Patrick McCrory picked Juneteenth--of all the days in the year, --to reinstate North Carolina's proven race-based system of death, to sign an unconstitutional and flawed law that repeals North Carolina's nationally-acclaimed Racial Justice Act, " said Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II, President of the NC State Conference of over 100 adult and youth branches across the state. "The extremists who racially gerrymandered themselves into power with obscene donations from Art Pope and national secret political societies have now placed their approval on the proven racist system of death in our courthouses. The Racial Justice Act - which raised the window and turned on the lights on the racism in death penalty cases, was a major step in our efforts to carry out General Order #3, and to achieve "absolute equality of rights" between former masters and slaves."

RALEIGH - The NC NAACP will host a news conference prior to the Seventh Wave of Moral Monday demonstrations with State Conference President Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II, partner organizations in the Historic Thousands on Jones Street People's Assembly Coalition and other participants in Moral Mondays and the Forward Together Movement.
The news conference will take place at Christian Faith Baptist Church, 509 Hilltop Drive, Raleigh, NC from 4:00 - 4:25 pm. Participants will then travel to the Halifax Mall to join the rally at 5:00 pm. The news conference will outline next steps for Moral Mondays through the month of June, and answer any questions regarding Monday's focus on the extreme legislation proposed or passed by the General Assembly and Governor attacking access to health care and environmental justice

Which Five Supreme Court Justices just took more of your 5th amendment rights away?
so now your right to remain silence only counts, once the police, fbi or any other law enforcement person tell you, your rights..
Salinas' "Fifth Amendment claim fails because he did not expressly invoke the privilege against self-incrimination in response to the officer's question," Justice Samuel Alito said. "It has long been settled that the privilege `generally is not self-executing' and that a witness who desires its protection `must claim it.'"
The court decision was down its conservative/liberal split, with Alito's judgment joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia.
so now once you are arrest or in custody invoke your firth amendment right immediately..
only these four stood up for the US Consutition of the United State
Liberal Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan dissented. "In my view the Fifth Amendment here prohibits the prosecution from commenting on the petitioner's silence in response to police questioning," Breyer said in the dissent.
so now being silence now, can and will be used against you in a court of law..

Seventh Moral Monday Lifts Up Health and Environmental Justice
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
16 June 2013
For More Information: Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II, President, 919-394-8137
Mrs. Amina J. Turner, Executive Director, 919-682-4700

Emboldened by Divisive Language of Ultra-Conservative Leadership
RALEIGH - The Seventh Moral Monday, on June 17, 2013, will focus on the deadly attacks against the environment and health care system. "A group of people committed to an ideologically extreme and immoral agenda have turned our legislature into a house of disdain for the poor and vulnerable of North Carolina," said Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, President of the NC NAACP. "They have rammed through a slash and burn program that virtually all scientists believe will lead to the disastrous consequences for the health of our planet and our people."
People from all over North Carolina will gather outside the NC General Assembly on Halifax Mall, 300 N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC for a rally at 5:00 pm. Some will remain on the Mall protesting the attack on our environment and our health care system. Some -- after much prayer and consulting their own consciences -- will walk into the People's House and exercise their constitutional right to instruct their legislators and petition them for redress of their grievances.
BACKGROUND: During last week's Sixth Moral Monday, 84 people tried to bring their concerns to their legislators, but were arrested, apparently by the order of the two men who control the People's House, Thom Tillis and Phil Berger. Two days later, at the Wednesday Witness, they apparently ordered the arrest of eight more people -- three local elected officials, four NAACP branch presidents, the 1st Vice President of the NC NAACP, three people with disabilities, a grandfather and his 19-year old grandson. The eight witnesses were arrested for holding small photos of civil rights martyrs Medgar Evers and the four Sunday School girls who were blown up by the Klan, in the bloody 1963 struggle to win the precious right to vote - only 50 years ago. The NAACP reports that over 400 people have been arrested in the six Moral Mondays, Wednesday Witness and a protest led by students on May Day of this year. What began as a few dozen supporters on the first wave of Moral Mondays has grown to thousands coming out during the past few weeks to demand an end to the extreme attacks on civil, labor and human rights.
"This General Assembly rejected our own tax dollars coming back to North Carolina, because it is associated with their despised "Obamacare." Their resentment of the President is so deep, so irrational, that they want to deny health care to over 500,000 poor and working people in North Carolina. Their love for private corporate monopolies, on the other hand is so great, they want to poison the air we breathe, the soil we farm in, our beautiful rivers and bays and streams and roll back critical environmental protections," said Rev. Barber.
"Poisoning God's creation is not only a sin, it also causes more people to get sick. We will have to care for them in our emergency rooms, our jails, and our prisons," Rev. Barber continued. "Countless North Carolinians are one accident or health problem away from poverty. Our children have the God-given right to grow up in a healthy place-whether they are the children of Republicans, Democrats, rich, poor, white, black or Latino."
"We will continue to demand an end to the Tea Party, cookie-cutter legislation created by outside dumb down-tanks," Rev. Barber said. "We cannot help but smile at the ridiculous rhetoric spewing from their propaganda ministers, calling us "morons" and "outsiders." But it is tragic that they would pull language from racist, segregationist southern leaders like Governor George Wallace to discredit a moral and diverse movement for more democracy and justice than they would care for. Or terms like "moron" which were the same they used to justify the brutal eugenics program. If they would take off their blinders, pull out their ear plugs, and take a moment to meet with us, they would see we are white, black, Latino, young, old, clergy, workers, veterans, professors, students, elected officials, people with disabilities, and that we love North Carolina, our home. We will continue to pray for the Governor and Legislative leadership to turn from their immoral public policy and begin to govern for the good of the whole, not of the few."

Email concerning the Moral Monday Rally on the 17 of June 2013
This Monday, June 17, the people of North Carolina will once again meet in Raleigh for the 7th wave of Moral Mondays, and we encourage you to be there!
Hundreds of North Carolinians are showing their dismay and opposition to the General Assembly's regressive agenda by participating in civil disobedience and being arrested. Thousands more are showing their support for Moral Mondays by attending a rally and joining the protest!
This Monday has a special emphasis on health care and environmental justice - and we'll also be sending Gov. McCrory a message that "we are not outsiders." Look for a table on the Halifax Mall that will have materials you can use to make a sign showing where you're from or what issue you're there to support. Or bring your own sign with you (you'll have to fold it up if you go inside the General Assembly building). We'll be taking pictures to show the world that this movement is diverse and home-grown.
We look forward to seeing you at 5 PM on Monday, June 17 at the Halifax Mall behind the General Assembly (use 300 Salisbury St., Raleigh in your GPS). For information on the orientation for participating in nonviolent civil disobedience, call the NC NAACP office at 919-682-4700.
Forward together!

So how much did it Cost Art Pope to buy Rep Jonathan Jordan??
Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
from the Institute for Southern Studies,
A CASE STUDY IN INFLUENCE
Perhaps it's not surprising that Rep. Jordan buckled to Pope's pressure: The GOP lawmaker from North Carolina's 93rd district is a case study in Pope's outsized political influence in the state.
When Jordan first ran for office in 2010, he was one of two dozen Republicans that benefited from a flood of money Pope poured into elections, helping the GOP capture the state legislature.
That year, Jordan received $16,000 in campaign contributions from Pope and his close family, the maximum allowed by law. On top of that, three groups backed by Pope -- Americans for Prosperity, Civitas Action and Real Jobs NC -- shoveled more than $91,500 into election spending on Jordan's behalf, bringing Pope's total investment in launching Jordan's legislative career to more than $107,000.
But Pope's connection to Rep. Jordan goes back even further. In the late 1990s, Jordan spent two years as research director at the John Locke Foundation, one of a network of conservative groups in North Carolina largely funded by Art Pope's family foundation.
And Locke and other Pope-backed groups have spearheaded the attack on North Carolina's judicial program from the very beginning.

This Post taken from Tumblr, Today in Human Scumbags: Turtle, Trying to Find Place to Lay Eggs, Beaten to Death at Golf Course
Kudos to the state of Wisconsin for helping to get this out there via its Facebook page, but what a horrible story. Someone in the state took a golf club and beat to death, apparently for fun, a snapping turtle.
To make matters worse, they didn’t really beat the poor animalto death. It lingered for two days, with gaping, open, bleeding wounds. Then died.
“The female turtle, looking for a place to lay her eggs, was found lying in the sand in a bunker with holes in its shell. It was also struck in the right eye, a wound which appeared to have been from a golf club.” She died before they could perform surgery.
The turtle was reportedly bludgeoned with a golf club at the Delbrook Golf Course in Delavan, Wisconsin on June 10, between 7:30 and 9:30 in the morning. There were 35 golfers there at the time.
The female turtle was apparently looking for a place to lay her eggs when some golfer decided to beat her:
The female turtle, looking for a place to lay her eggs, was found lying in the sand in a bunker with holes in its shell. It was also struck in the right eye, a wound which appeared to have been from a golf club. The turtle will have surgery today and has about a 40-60% chance of survival.
The poor thing had its skull fractured, and its shell severely damaged.
The state announced this morning that the turtle died:
For all of those following the case of the turtle which was found beaten on a golf course on Monday, we are sad to report the turtle has died. She passed away late last night or very early this morning. We will update you on the status of the investigation as we can, but wanted to let you know the turtle did not survive the night and surgery was not performed.
She was so ill, they never got a chance to perform the surgery.
What possesses people to do something like this?
The Global Conservative Group is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who did this. This comment on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Facebook page summed up the sentiments of many:
It’s not just a turtle. Anyone that can do that to a helpless animal is sick and would probably harm a human too.

The Supreme Court does something Right for a Change.
Unanimously, the high court decided that human genes can’t be patented, but synthetically produced material can be.
A naturally occurring piece of DNA is “a product of nature and not patent eligible merely because it has been isolated,” the court said.
The case centered on a Salt Lake City company called Myriad Genetics that was granted patents for isolating two genes, known as BRCA1 and BRCA2, that indicate a higher risk of breast and ovarian cancer. The company now markets tests for those genes.
BRCA1 is the gene carried by actress Angelina Jolie, who determined after a test that she was at higher risk of developing breast cancer and chose to have a double mastectomy.
The court said that Myriad had found something important and useful, but it ruled that “groundbreaking, innovative, or even brilliant discovery” does not by itself guarantee a patent.
Fox News rehire Mad Moose disease ridden Sarah Palin..
Did they recently got rid of her ass, I guess they are glutton for punishment,
Fox News is thrilled to welcome her back. The return of the outspoken 2008 vice presidential candidate, who appeared on the fair and balanced network for three years ending in January, was announced by Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. "I hope she continues to speak her mind. I have great confidence in her and am pleased that she will once again add her commentary to our programming," Ailes said. Palin will make her latest debut on the morning show "Fox & Friends," on Monday. In addition to providing political insight and commentary, Palin will contribute to Fox Business Network. "The power of Fox News is unparalleled," Palin said. "The role of Fox News in the important debates in our world is indispensable. I am pleased and proud to be rejoining Roger Ailes and the great people at Fox."
Have to wonder what her pay is this time around? Better yet, what are her do’s and don’t that might be listed in her contract.
