Stephen LaRoque heads to court In October

5057677Stephen LaRoque, the former lawmaker indicted on charges he used taxpayer money given to a nonprofit development corporation to fund extravagant personal purchases, could come to trial in October. 

A scheduling order in his case calls for motion filings to be completed in September and sets trial for the Oct. 9 term of U.S. District Court in Raleigh. Trial will be before Judge Malcolm J. Howard.

yes he thought he could get away with it, he was dead wrong and how he must face the music..

He has already resigned from the NCGA. 

If convicted of the federal charges, LaRoque could face 10 years in prison for each count.

LaRoque was in his third term in the state House. He represented Greene, Lenoir and Wayne counties.
