State NAACP leadership along with the local branch president and representatives of the High Point Convention and Visitors Bureau will announce that the 68th Annual NC NAACP State Convention is coming to the City of High Point, October 13 through 15. Both national and state civil rights, religious, legal and political grassroots leaders will keynote, present and/or attend this annual gathering of the largest state NAACP conference in the South, the second largest in the nation.
In the face of frontal attacks on civil rights, voting rights and the poor in our state, the convention will address Education, Economic Development, Health, Criminal Justice, Redistricting, GOTV (Get Out the Vote) and Voter Education, Registration and Protection over a three-day period. Pre-convention events include a financial literacy session and the 5th Annual Romallus Murphy Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminar for lawyers, judges, and other legal practitioners. These major issues will be focal points along with a strategic response to the regressive politics in our state.
The news conference will also discuss other activities that will include education on critical issues affecting African-Americans and other minorities and skill-building coupled with leadership development in an inter-generational context.
