Walker and Fjeld Campaigns Announce Debate Agreement

(6th Congressional District) – Congressional candidates Mark Walker (Republican) and Laura Fjeld (Democrat) released a joint statement announcing their agreement on the number and location of debates in the 6th Congressional District election:

"In an effort to focus on the issues that matter most to voters in the District, our campaigns have agreed to participate in debates in both the Greensboro and Raleigh areas. We believe this will present voters with a full and fair examination of the issues, the candidates, and our positions."

Both campaigns have accepted the invitation of Fox 8 and the Greensboro News and Record to participate in a jointly hosted debate on October 29th.  This debate will be televised on WGHP-TV and streamed live on MyFox8.com and News-Record.com.

The second debate has been agreed to in principle but a media host, date, and format have yet to be identified.  This debate remains subject to terms that will be mutually agreed upon by both candidates.

"The voters have rejected negative, politics as usual and this agreement shows that Republicans and Democrats can still put the voters first," said Walker. "I look forward to the debates and welcome the chance to discuss a vision for the country's future that sees less government and greater economic opportunity for middle class families."

Laura Fjeld said "I look forward to substantive debates about the best way to move our country forward on important issues such as jobs and education.  I will work with members of both parties to find bipartisan solutions to the pressing problems we face as a country and state."
