Sen. Thom Goolsby (R-New Hanover County) said it was "a wonderful day in North Carolina," because the state has a balanced budget that won't increase spending.
"Folks need to know that spending in North Carolina has literally gone up over 80 percent in the last 12 years. That's crazy, unsustainable, and it's finally been stopped," Goolsby said.

"Well, she's been overridden," Goolsby said. "You cannot tax people into prosperity no matter how much she might yell that it can be done. And we finally stopped her."
