309717_252156518167933_238567346193517_761331_1481235790_nMother Margaret (white-haired lady at center), who is disabled and spent time cooking for the group and sharing food with the homeless, tells police she is unable to continue to demonstrate without sitting down because of her disability.
Margaret was wearing a handicapped placard issued by the State. She was arrested for her disability
KG also held her seat, telling police if they cite her the statue that says she can't sit to one side of the sidewalk in a chair, she will get up and put away her chair.
Margaret, KG and 6 other peaceful protestors sitting around them were arrested.
All this happened AFTER the group had removed ALL other belongings except for these 2 camping chairs.
The orders came from Gov. Bev Perdue and Secretary of the Department of Administration Moses Carey. http://www.doa.nc.gov/media/releases/showrelease.asp?id=0001-27OCT11
More than anything, we need bodies down at the site to stand in solidarity. In addition to this, or if you are unable to come today, can you make calls and emails to protest the unjustifiable arrests and State efforts to stop the occupation by removing all supplies:
