LaRoque said state NAACP president Rev. William Barber is “racist.” He also called the modern-day NAACP a “racist organization.”
The caucus members sent a letter to Speaker Thom Tillis, , asking for the House leader to publicly condemn LaRoque’s remarks and investigate whether those comments violated legislative ethics rules. The letter notes that most lawmakers in the Black Caucus are life-time members of the NAACP.
Good luck getting Tillis to do his job, if he does investigate, he will find LaRoque not guilty of any ethic violation, since most GOP’er don’t know ethics from their shoes..
“We are neither thugs nor cowards and definitely not part of any racist organization,” said Rep. Rodney Moore, D-Mecklenburg,
In addition, Moore said LaRoque acted in a “very hostile way” toward Rep. Angela Bryant, upon learning of the caucus’ draft letter criticizing LaRoque’s comments.
Moore also said LaRoque promised to “destroy the NAACP in North Carolina.”
And after this back and forth this GOP’er KKK member, the following statement
“Frankly I think it’s kind of pitiful when you’ve got a group in the House who are trying to defend an individual and an organization and stirring the racial pot in order to have influence and to gain money,” he said. “It’s kind of sad that that’s what these group of individuals have decided to support. I think it says a lot about them and their character.”
and this one too,
“What was inappropriate was her writing that actual letter – especially if she used state equipment to do it with,” said LaRoque. “I think if she did I think that she owes the taxpayers of North Carolina a refund.”
The Time for this type of straight up bigotry is long over and has no place in this time and age in the NCGA. We can no longer stand this type blanket bigotry from our elected officials.
