Fracking in NC? via NC Conservation Network..

State legislators are returning to Raleigh tomorrow for another special legislative session, and while they say they won't be bringing up any votes, anything could happen - remember last month's late night shenanigans1? That’s why we need your help to remind your state Representative that you don't want fracking to become a reality for North Carolina.

Send a message to your state Representative today, urging them to say NO to fracking in North Carolina: http://action.ncconservationnetwork.org/NoFrackingS709
Last month, Duke University held a workshop with several scientists who study fracking and its impacts to our environment. Indy Week summed up this workshop and the dangers of fracking best:

“Considering the Legislature’s shenanigans over the past year, we shouldn’t assume the majority would base a vote on facts. But for the rest of you who don’t have campaign coffers to fill and political favors to return, here’s the take-home message about fracking: Based on available data, which admittedly is limited in some cases, fracking is fraught with environmental hazards, including air and water pollution, and it may contribute to, or even accelerate the pace of, climate change.”2

Please send a message to your Representative urging them to oppose Senate Bill 709 (should it come up for a vote) and any bill that would promote fracking in our beautiful state.
Thanks,
