Wow: House Min. Leader Joe Hackney won’t run for re-election

joe hackneyHouse Minority Leader Joe Hackney announced that he will not run for re-election this year. The 16-term Democrat from Chapel Hill offered no reason other than he looks forward to spending more time with his family, his law firm and recreational pursuits.

Hackney who supported the 1996 statute making same-sex marriage illegal, now won’t support the up coming Amendment to to add this to the NC Constitution.

He said that the Amendment places NC “unfavorably in  the national spotlight.”
