Young Republicans back in Buncombe County

ASHEVILLE, NC--After a two-year hiatus, young Republicans in Buncombe County will have their very own organization to call home. A group of local Republicans who want to expand the party's size and scope have committed to reorganizing the once defunct Buncombe County Young Republicans.
The effort is being spearheaded by Wiley Westall, age 28, and Matthew Hoagland, 27, along with Buncombe County Republican Party Chairman Henry Mitchell and Asheville City Council candidate Mark Cates--who is helping to fund the group's first event.

The event to officially launch the organization will take place at Magnolia's in downtown Asheville on Thursday, August 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Free hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be offered. All registered Republicans--or unaffiliated voters interested in becoming Republicans--between the ages of 18 and 40 are welcomed to attend. Those wishing to attend the event should email their RSVP to BuncombeYR@gmail.com. Space will be limited.

The event will feature guest speakers Cates and Mitchell, and Former County Commission Chairman Nathan Ramsey. Also, NC 10th District Congressman Patrick McHenry may call in via Skype if his schedule permits.

Hoagland will chair the new organization. He is the former campaign manager for Dr. Dan Eichenbaum, former deputy campaign manager for Jeff Miller in 2010 and current campaign director for Cates. He is a native of Rutherford County, graduate of Western Carolina University, and moved to Asheville in 2008.
