Bring a Sign with a Positive Message and Take a Stand for Marriage!
RALEIGH — The Rev. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League, will be one of several speakers leading the North Carolina Values Coalition's Marriage Rally Monday morning at the Legislature.
“North Carolina invests in itself when it allows its citizens to vote on protecting and defending marriage. We urge the Legislature to take this important step for their state, and join the majority of states nationwide in approving a ballot vote on marriage,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. The FRC's legislative arm is running radio ads promoting Monday's rally and urging listeners to ask state lawmakers to support Senate Bill 106, which would allow voters to amend the state Constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman. The ads running on some 20 stations throughout the state, target specifically about a dozen lawmakers, including representatives Chuck McGrady, Michael Wray, Winkie Wilkins, Annie Mobley, Garland Pierce, Elmer Floyd, Larry Bell, Charles Graham, Earline Parmon, Jim Crawford, Glen Bradley and Senator Eric Mansfield.
One ad features Rev. Patrick Wooden Sr., of the Upper Room Church of God in Christ in Raleigh explaining that marriage is at risk and that "powerful voices in our state capitol are threatening your right to vote on marriage." "It's not about party, it's about marriage," the ads say.
Leaders of the effort will be reminding lawmakers that defining marriage in our general statutes is not enough, especially considering the rulings of activist judges in other states. North Carolina remains the only state in the southern U.S. that has not allowed voters to decide on protecting marriage in its State Constitution.
Join the rally!!! Let lawmakers feel your presence, as well as hear your voice!!! To find out more on this issue, log onto http://www.ncvalues.org
