In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001, Senator Hagan will attend a 9/11 tribute ceremony at the new Lincoln Heights Park in Charlotte. The construction of the park is part of the annual National Day of Service and Remembrance, an effort to equip more than 1 million Americans to serve their communities on September 11. Local nonprofit agency Hands On Charlotte brought together community volunteers to help build Lincoln Heights Park in the days leading up to the 9/11 anniversary.
In her speech, Senator Hagan, a member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, will honor the victims and heroes of 9/11, as well as the men and women who continue to serve our country abroad and at home. She will also discuss the National Day of Service and Remembrance and the importance of giving back to the community to honor the lives lost that day.
