Note from ENC,, on the Marriage Amendments

WE'RE T-MINUS TWO (2) HOURS FROM THE START OF A LEGISLATIVE SESSION TO DECIDE WHETHER A BAN OF ALL LEGAL RELATIONSHIP RECOGNITIONS FOR SAME-SEX COUPLES GOES INTO OUR STATE CONSTITUTION.

This is it. And we need your help to stop it.

SEVEN big calls to action:

#1: Call your Legislator(s). Click here, look them up and make. that. call. It doesn't matter if you've called before...call again. And again. Flood the phone lines with your reasoned appeal asking N.C. lawmakers to oppose this amendment. It doesn't matter if your representative is with us and is already opposed to this legislation. They could be the voice that convinces another lawmaker to vote "NO."

#2: E-mail your Legislator(s). After you've made that call, send them an e-mail that they can see anywhere. Customize the message for more impact and let them know--from your personal perspective--why writing discrimination into our state's founding document is so wrong.

#3: Help others call their Legislator(s). We've made it easy by setting up virtual phone banks all over the state and country to mobilize our family, neighbors, co-workers and friends to let these lawmakers know that we oppose the anti-LGBT amendment...and we vote!

#4: Help us at our offices. Come to the ENC "war room" (126 E. Hargett St. Raleigh, N.C.) and be a part of the change you want to see by volunteering your time--between now and 9 PM tomorrow night--to help keep our state on the right side of history.
#5: Come to a Vigil for Equality in your area. Tonight at 7 p.m., somewhere near you, we'll be gathering at candlelight Vigils for Equality to highlight the harms of this discriminatory legislation. From the mountains of Asheville to shores of Wimington, join us at one of the nine vigils and stand with us for Equality.

#6: Come to our Rally Against the Anti-LGBT Constitutional Amendment. Tomorrow at noon (September 13), come to Halifax Mall outside of the N.C.G.A. and unite and make your voices heard for Equality. Did we mention country superstar Chely Wright will be there? And we need thousands of you there too!

#7: Did we mention: call your legislator? This is it: What are you waiting for?
Together we can protect NC families.
But ONLY if each of us does SOMETHING between now and September 13 to GET OUT THERE AND MOBILIZE THE MASSES!
