HOFELLER SCAM: VOTERS PAYING FOR THEIR OWN DISENFRANCHISEMENT
RALEIGH - Democratic Party Chairman David Parker reacted to news that Republicans used taxpayer money to pay GOP consultant Tom Hofeller to draw the current redistricting maps.
"Taxpayer money is paying for a partisan republican bonanza. Women are paying this man for the elimination of female incumbents. African Americans are being forced to pay a republican consultant to cram 49% of them into three congressional districts. He's working against their interests, and they're footing the bill. They're paying for their own disenfranchisement."
Parker called for a full audit of Republican redistricting committee expenses.
"Absolute power corrupts absolutely and but for Bev Perdue's veto this session, the Republicans power would have been absolute. Well, she can't veto these maps, and we're getting a taste of absolute Republican power."
