Rep. Paul Stam (R) appeared this week on American Family Association radio with AFA’s President Tim Wildmon and the Family Research Council’s President, Tony Perkins. The SPLC identifies both AFA and FRC as hate groups for their anti-gay rhetoric. Stam urged listeners to call their representative to encourage them to vote for the anti-gay measure and expressed optimism that voters would approve the amendment if it passed out of the legislature:
WILDMON: Shouldn’t this be a slam dunk once it gets out there to the people of North Carolina?Watch the full exchange:
STAM: Well, we believe the people will pass it by 60, 65, 70 percent. That has never been the issue. The issue has been the old guard, for a decade, just not wanting to have the vote.
Wack job, Ron Baity had this to say, The lead proponent of the amendment,
Ron Baity of Return America, said yesterday that it’s essential because Satan has marriage in the “crosshairs,” hoping “to tear down the idea of Christ’s unconditional love for us.”Stam is just promoting his own brand of bigotry, and racism (that can only be found in the south.) Stam with the rest of his douchebag clan in the NCGA, want to turn the time back to good ole days of Jim Crow .
But lets really face the facts on this Amendment, if the House and Senate does pass it. It will be used to help fill the coffers of the hate and equality groups (local and national.) There will be a Yes on and No on campaign all across the state of NC.. There will be rallies, protests, radio and tv ads for both sides. Each will claim there are right and the other is wrong. Both Side will be burning up the cell and land lines up, call up voters..
So no matter what happens this September in Raleigh, it won’t be the end of the issue at all. Not, until DOMA is overturn.
